i had to buy another one!ill just have to put up with my slx 22 until it arrives! ;D
for me they are worth it even though they dont last as long as other poles but the new ones have metal clamping bands so this might improve the wear a bit more.
i just love them.with all the work ive got these days its the easiest way to work IMO. :)

I just ordered a Rectus 21 female ::)roll Who gives a flying fook
-
I know you love your xtremes daz, but I picked up
An 18ft facelift phoenix x a few weeks ago, 980g and stiff as brick, absolutly fantastic, short collapsed length, and just amazing clamps. I've got the 25ft for higher stuff, but for £200 I couldn't be happier.
Spending over £500 on an xtreme seems pointless if it only lasted 18 months!
I know you'll never change your mind about xtremes, but there are other amazingly good poles out there...
-
Trouble is, once you've used an Xtreme- EVERYTHING else is a dinosaur!!!

The moral is... Don't try and xtreme, and save the dosh!

An Extreme is well worth the money - I wouldn't use anything else now.

Iv got an extreme 25 and I was getting a bit worn so put it in van and ...wait for it bin using a clx18 its not bad but I gotta be honest its dog crap compared to the extreme,I pulled extreme out other day as I fancied an easy one that along with hot water I felt like lord muck ;D have to say I mite start using extreme full time again and put some clear laquer on it once a week, mite also take bottom section of and see if it makes much difference

I went one worse(financially )
Bought the extreme 18 and 25 dual pole offer
Same as daz, about 18 months max I had replaced section two, three and four with old SLX sections,as a temp measure....
Taken attitude of allowing £10 a week over a year or so, as a 'running cost' and I have extremely ( no pun intended) light poles to work with
Hurt like crap the week I bought them though....

jakeyboy an 18 footer is too short for lots of my work.i only use 2 pole lengths.a 25 ft and 47ft.thats it.
i have lots of awkward windows to clean deep over connys/extensions,3 storey windows, velux and high up first floor windows during the course of my work.using extreme poles makes this work a lot easier.i also dont wanna be going back to the van for another pole to reach the odd window here and there too often therefore minimizing faffing about time on the job.

ive used the extremes all day/every day since i got them 18 months ago deangsi.to me i dont see the point in leaving them in the van when you ve spent good money on them to make your workload easier.

I've been a slx user for years but I think I'm going to bite the bullet this year and order an extreme 22. That way my slx 25 will get used a little bit, and the extreme will do all the rest.
Am I not right in saying that these new metal inserts should ELIMINATE wear and not just reduce it? Surely aluminium isn't going to wear down because of a plastic clamp?
Or do the sections around the clamping points wear just as much as points themselves?

jonny i think the poles will still wear but not as much.im happy to buy a new day to day pole every 2 years.the extremes are worth it mate for ease of use alone. :)

You can't eliminate the wear of any pole because they wear from the inside too. However, the metal inserts certainly slow it down. I wonder if a teflon tape would be viable instead of insulating tape Gardiners use.

Well its coming back out now and the clx can be a spare
-
We have extreme poles from 2011. Used daily.
If the pole is correctly maintained then I don't see why it should be wearing out after 12-18 months.
I have an extreme which is well past 2 years old and have never been lacquered.
-
Daz you are a very luck man to afford a new extreme pole I will never be able to afford it, My best comes in the form of a 3 year clx. Would you consider donating your old extreme to a worthy cause. The slappy happy can`t afford a extreme fund.
I thank you in anticipation. I am not joking.

I agree with you Daz & your repetitive argument is correct & valid. ;)
I remember you starting wfp. You were told (by me & others) not to waste your money on crap poles (but you did, as most do). You soon realised the false economy of these inferior poles & worked your way up to the ultimate one. You've witness the benefits of using these poles & indeed you benefit everyday by doing so. As you know, your Xtreme, in reality costs you not a penny more over an slx, in fact it costs you less as the extra benefit it pays you over it's life is far greater than the monetary difference between the two. ;)
-
I'd certainly like to buy one, however unlike some I spend a lot of my money on holidays/weekend breaks and personal possessions etc, me and be wife are off to New York in March, I decided it best to spend money on life not putting too much money back on work tools, id rather spend hard eanrned money on exploring the world and dining out more etc...
I would buy an xtreme, just not at the huge price, if it only lasts 18 months!!
I love my facelift poles, use them more than the slx2, 18ftis so so light (980g), and very very rigid, 25ft is also under 1400g, and half the price atleast of xtreme poles plus will last 2 years if looked after well...
So, whilst I'm sure xtreme poles are superb, I know they will not earn me more money, is still get the same amount of work done with my current poles, were probably talking minor differences in weight and rigidity in reality...

Jakey, do you drive a Skoda?
-
Jakey, do you drive a Skoda?
Ha ha!
No I drive a transit connect and the wife drives the tt
-
Why a TT and not a Skoda - both do the same thing.
-
Daz, are you sure you play the drums?
I've only seen you blowing a trumpet and that's your own!
-

One is more fun, plus Thats what the wife wanted...
They don't do the same thing, sit in a tt then sit in a skoda,
Then use an xtreme then use a facelift, - the difference there is negligable. A carbon pole is a carbon pole.
Plus I work to enjoy life, not to buy the best pole...
-
:) I rest my case.

If it can be proven the xtreme would make me more money so be it, but that's not the case,
I've got a life outside window cleaning to enjoy! ;D
When I'm old, maybe I'll need an xtreme, but at 26, I'm fine with a facelift or other carbon pole
-
Happy new pole!
I can't fault extreme's, I love my 25 and 50ft
The metal bands are a great idea to prolong life.
-
Skoda's and TT's both go round corners and drive you to the shops.
Except if you buy a Skoda you could have more holidays if that's your thing.
However you can work faster with an Extreme to earn more money.
Or be home earlier which is my thing ;D
-
I used to use an old fibre glass pole.....bought a clx pole and noticed I was getting through more work and was less tired at the end of the day.
I then bought a slx pole and the same again, more work done in the day and less tired or sore shoulders after a hard long day.
I'm hoping it will be the same with the extreme. :)

its nothing to do with luck mate.hard work over many years has got me where i am today.at one time i was up to my eyes in debt.a penniless alcoholic.

:) I rest my case.
I agree mate. Too many Gardiner fans here. They will never change. Just because Gardiner were the best, doesn't mean they will always be the best.
Skoda was rubbish now ok
Kia were rubbish now ok
Hyundai etc
They all drive from one place to another, but they arnt all made the same
-
??? you kind of missed the point there.

In all honesty I can say the only thing that has made my day
more productive isn't a pole I bought but was losing weight and regaining
my strength and fitness and apart from a decent pair of trainers it has
cost me bugger all.

Exactly!
I can guarantee an xtreme wouldn't earn me more money than my facelift poles, being fit and healthy does. I mean come on guys, my facelift is 980g!! That's a feather. As if an xtreme is going to make any difference!
The tt is the wife's car, however its fun to drive and more appealing to us than a skoda. Whereas, an xtreme pole compare to my facelift is like comparing my left and right hand. There's nothing in it! ;D
There's a bigger difference between cars than there is in carbon fibre poles.
