Title: Scaffold tower
Post by: Window Lickers on December 10, 2014, 11:29:02 am
Do you need any formal training to use a scaffold tower that is erected by someone who is trained to do so?

We have a job on where they have a scaffold tower on site and can use, however the site manager has asked to see our PASMA certification which we dont have.

Thanks in advance.

Yes generally IF it has to be constructed. How high are you going? If you look on hss hire they have collapsable ones, like the Ugo Razor. No need for PASMA as all you are doing is essential moving it into place. Not much to hire either! Hope this helps

We do a school atrium at 30' from the school's scaffold tower. There is no issues with us using it, but they have to erect it and disassemble it.

You don't need a licence by law. Just have to be competent.

Some big sites will ask for it to cover their own backsides, but residentials should be fine. Kind of like a cscs card.

I priced up the pasma course yesterday and it only comes in at 99+vat, lasts 5years. Just add it on to the cost of the job. I'm doing my ipaf license n just adding that onto a job.

Its "up norf" mate near Manchester by a company called astley hire. I'd think they were all about the same price though?
