Had my first complaint of this kind today from a customer who has old fashioned sash windows. Apparantly since i moved over to wfp there has been paint coming off the some of the windows which may well be the case as the bottom window looked as though paint had come off. They were just freshly painted in the summer they said.
To be honest though i'm going to get rid anyway as been doing them 8 years for a very reasonable £13(semi detached about 12/13 windows and they nearly dumped me about 3 years ago as they said someone had offered to do for a tenner so i matched the price. I put the price up last month to £12(still cheaper than original price) and then when she paid me in change i realised it was only £11 he paid.
I want to write a letter saying i no longer want to do them as don't want to be further accused of more potential paint damage.. how would you word it? I know some wouldn't bother writing a letter but i would as it's longterm customers....
Also i want to dump another with back access probs(been doing for 7 years)previously trad i used to climb over the garage with the ladder,now wfp it has been nothing but hassle trying to catch them in (as you have to go through garage)and i've had abit of rudeness from them in recent times..
Any ideas on letters for both cases? Or how i can word it? I want to give them the respect of at least letting them know i'm no longer coming as it's too much hassle etc etc :)

Put a note through each door saying that the price has increased by 200% and if you still want them

just tell them that hes not in favour of the waterfed pole cleaning way, and let him know there are plenty of customers who are.
pay the rate or goodbye.
dont rub the pained framework, just rinse it .after cleaning the glass

rude customer = just stop going ... rude people get dropped immediately ... in fact no rude customers left ;D
paint customer = decorator / diy home owner will blame you ... tell them to buy quality paint in future.

It does damage them over time even if you clean the frames etc,customers who have there windows painted every couple of years or so won't notice it but ones that don't will. The sills are the part of the window to suffer over time WFP will damage the paintwork and the opposite on PVC of cleaned properly everytime,I give it the sale crap to the custies bit of I tell the truth wooden windows are going to degrade quicker being wfpoled

As mentioned before - don't waste your time on a letter. Just get rid. Don't let 'em live rent free in your mind.

You dont need to justify it, if you dont wanna do them, well errrr dont!!
We've walked away from loads of jobs for various reasons over the years, like wise we have been dropped for various reasons over the years. Just forget it and move on ;D

Next time you are in the area cleaning just knock on the door and tell the truth. I`ve had a few people treat me rudely because "I`m only a window cleaner" or I`m fat so must be stupid and treated accordingly. If that happens they are told I don`t find that acceptable so won`t be coming back. If I`m in a bad mood the reply is much shorter and they don`t expect me back.
One customer got aggressive because I went through a rotten decking, I was apologetic until he called me a fat c--t. Suffice to say he apologised very quickly and said it was fine he would sort it and paid me for the windows with a fifty per cent tip. I do like being my size sometimes and I still do his windows. ;D

I'm surprised as to how many people just stop going. The thing is they have been customers for 7 years(yes i know they are out of order)but i do the neighbours also. I think i may just write a letter and just say i'm not happy that it was assumed that i was the one who damaged the paint work and also that i haven't been happy doing it for a tenner for all these years and let someone traditional do it for a tenner instead.
I charge a tenner for the neighbours which is front only... I just feel as a business writing that letter gives me that way to put it to rest and say my piece.. Defo time to get rid of some of the messers in 2015 :-)

True not abuse. Still i like the way they assumed it was me and after 5 years of charging £12 for a semi detached house and then were happy to drop me like a hot potato cos they got a quote for £10 which i matched. No point moaning though,if i'm not happy then as people on here always say.. DUMP and replace.
