Is it worth to take a personal loan to buy Airflex Storm?
I know I can not afford spend those money from my savings so that's why loan idea comes from.
why this machine? I'd like to expand and aim commercial cleaning as well as domestic.
With my powermax second hand which has 75psi pump plus only God knows what motors are fitted in I found hardly to clean carpets at higher levels as first ,second or third floor.
It seems risky when it is just a growing business but when buying this stuff I'd get additionaly training and other stuff.
Shall I look for those money and go forward or really try to
grow up my company at recent equipment and upgrade current extractor which also will coast quite a lot.
At all from my point of view I did wrong decision by buying this medium extractor.
Give me please your opinion!
Apologises if you find it messed up.

only you know how your finances stand. If you can confortably afford to take out a loan then go for it. Have you considered leasing as a means of financing a machine?
-
Yep I did calculations and paying back loan is what I can afford.
No I didn't but thanks I'll get some info about this option.
There is also way to buy machine and spread the coast onto monthly payments but on this occasion I was unsuccessful because I am not a house owner.

It's not really a question of what you can afford to pay back in loan payments, it's a question of how stable your business is and what prospects you have of growing your turnover in the short term.
A new machine won't expand your business, it might allow you to do bigger jobs but that requires an investment in marketing to generate the extra jobs.
For £350 you could replace both of your vac motors with 1500 watt electros and fit a 150 psi pump, which is a new machine on the cheap.

I considered upgrade of my current machine of course.
It's not said I definitely will buy brand new storm.
My business isn't stable at all. So far I just done jobs for people I've been recommended by my friends etc.
I just didn't advertise anywhere but will do.
Storm would make life and service easier and way quicker.
Just a thing that you can leave machine in the van is already great advantage.
And you're right Simon doesn't matter what good stuff you have without good marketing and knowledge on services, business probably will fail.
-
SimonW - you can buy a better machine then your current one for less money then a storm. I started with a powermax but stuck a 130psi pump in and got great running upto 60ft of hose at times. I found the next improvement was getting a sebo duo to scrub in pre sprays. And for 150 used is a great addition for any beginner

Simon,
If your business isn't stable and you're only doing the odd job, what on earth are you doing considering spending money on a better machine when your business is crying out for marketing investment to produce jobs to keep the business afloat.
Everyone wants a nice shiny new machine, but machines only earn you money when your marketing efforts bring in the jobs.

.... but with such a low quality equipment, money spend on marketing are a bit lost money, as will not give him many returning customers and referals.
so you dont realy need best equipment but something good enough to give good results
upgrade pump and engines and better buy some descent agitator, even storm will not give you best results without good agitation
-
So upgrade his Powermax and for a few hundred quid and increase his marketing. Oh, and buy a carpet brush from restormate for agitation. Simples.

Correct Simon it is just odd job since I don't even have a van.
After new year I am planning to buy a van and start advertising for good.
Once you will look and do professional job people will remember you as an expert. That is why I am considering purchase storm.
I might upgrade my machine and just carry on with it and after certain time I'll buy better equipment.
Thanks for all your feedback.

If I was to start from fresh I would buy , and in this order
A degree in marketing
Buy Jason l a coffee
A van
Lm kit
Small hwe machine
Invest profit in passive incomes
-
Simon,
Why don't you sit down and start building your business from scratch and that starts with building a financial plan so that you work out your start up costs, and then running costs including wages, advertising, insurance, fuel etc etc and get some idea of much business you will need to do every week in order to survive.
With that information in front of you you can make informed decisions.

Some great advise, I have been where you were not too long ago, I'm Still not 100% carpet cleaning yet but it's coming along nicely. Never did I turn up with the powermax and get a negative response! Not once. People often remarked how the machine looked the business and really professional, sure I'd upgrade the pump, but do this and learn about which pre sprays and chems to use and get some agitation and you will do a pro job that gets you referrals.
Bigger, better machines will help speed you up but in the beginning there won't be the same rush as when you are busy.

SimonW, there is a nice set to buy in sales section here

I'd agree with all except the first one Neil.
You have far more practical marketing experience than marketing graduates.
My approach to marketing graduates is "who taught you?" The answer is normally quite scary. I see you can now do degrees in SEO, which means all except the last few weeks of the course will be obsolete by the time you qualify.
-
Well guys thanks for all your comments. I do pleasure it.
It seems more realistic to upgrade my machine and for commercial I could do LM cleaning. Rest of my money I'll put onto marketing and more trainings.
Hopefully I'll find out what exactly motors I need to replace:d
changing pump looks very easy.

Simon
I use a airflex mini and a storm at 25 feet of hose it makes little difference at 75 feet its huge get a slow speed rotary and agitation pads or fibre plus pads from CSUK to help with the cleaning get your marketing sorted when you cover your costs then take a small wage and start investing in upgrading your kit
