Title: Van heating and frost protection methods?

What do you guys use to keep the van frost  free? I've got a tubular heater in the van and an oil filled rad for the really chilly nights. Thinking of somehow insulating the pump, as that's my main concern, that way the tube heater may be enough most nights.

Seems like a lot of money running rads in the van every night?

Thermostat so it's not on all the time plus when it is on it circulates air so you're not just heating a single spot on the roof.

I lift the DI, pump, pole and reel indoors. Very difficult trying to warm a pick up - though parking indoors is a good suggestion !

Street parked so running a leccy heater has never been an option for me.
My pump is on a wooden board with controller and inline filter all quick release along with van mounted reel and di.
I just isolate the tank and bring them in on a cold night but in 8 + years wfp my experience is I don't need to bother unless its gonna be atleast -2 overnight. Even then most the time I just isolate the tank disconnect all hoses and drain them by switching on the pump until it runs dry and thats been sufficient.
My 4040 is indoors though, so slightly different situation to others who have theirs in the van.  :)

Unless it's -2 plus I don't bother now.

With my van set up I can put a small rad and it will heat both pumps. Poles. Hose reels. Happy days.

For the OP. Tubular heaters if you can install them. Cheap to run. Well very cheap. I see you have maybe one? If you can install more then go for it. The rads are like 10-20p an hour.
