What temperature do you set the thermostat at on a 650 litre upright tank and how many hours is the timer set at over night any help would be appreciated
-
If you've got a thermostat why are you concerned about the timer?
-
Mine is set to 60/70 if I remember correctly, although it never gets to that. My element is set approx 1/4 to 1/3 up from the bottom of a 500ltr cube shaped tank & I have it on for 4.5 hours overnight.

I set it around 60 timer on 6 hours this was Feb.open van door water came rushing out.The element had melted the tank and destroyed it

Was the element touching the plastic in any way? I take it the element is not fixed in via a full mechanical flange?

Oh.... and it's vital that wherever you position the element it MUST be FULLY submersed in water. ;D

Is it wired to it's own 16 amp breaker in the consumer unit? and is it fully rigged with 16amp gear? I'm surprised the breaker didn't trip if so. Our breakers trip with a light bulb blowing!!

Another good reason to have it on a timer then too.
