Hi I have just bought a Nilfisk 30t vacuum for gutter clearing and was wondering if anyone knows the cheapest place to by a 51mm hose and cuff.
As I have never done this before I haven't any idea. Would it be possible to just buy a long length of vac hose and attach it to a wfp pole and use it like that just for domestic?
Thanks in advance

Ideally you need to buy a pole set attaching a 51mm vac hose to a gardiner pole would not work, you need full control over what you are doing.
-
The vac hose would be too heavy and bend your pole like a banana and keep banging in stuff.
i got the hose and cuff from grip and it slots straight into the nilfisk.
you need proper gutter vac poles.

What's the point in 51mm hose if the cuff takes it down to 38mm for the inlet may I ask?

because it's not 38mm Dave it's 51mm inlet.
you lost me
-
Good point thou, you need to really be running 51mm straight through not 38mm reducer
-
so how have you got yours set up then avo
-
X2 51mm cuffs screws into 51mm hose no reduced diameter..
Do you guys run into a 38mm then??

Then this fits inside the cuff for my poles to go into
-
No I don't use that vac but was thinking of getting one as looks like a handy little vac to have to keep in the van if needed for liitle jobs when I can't be arsed to lug about me big one.
Are you sure it has a 51mm inlet as it looks smaller than that to me?

Cheers for the pics Avo...are the filters cheap to get hold of as I see you have a few spares?

£12 each machine mart
But I've stopped buying them now the filters are temperamental been using Titan sponge filters and nylon mesh
-
Fine mesh
-
Many thank Avo, where do you get your Titan sponge filters & nylon mesh from?
Like I say looks a handy little vac does that https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2sZYcDMfJkI
-
Unless you got yours modified then it will have a 38mm inlet.
-
Did you not see the pic of the tape measure on the inlet then that avo posted?
-
Yes just seen it it looks like someone had ground the normal inlet out - mine has a male fitting. If you look inside Avos pic you can see the inlet is in fact very small further in.
-
Mine is samller on the inside too ;D
-
Yes Dave your correct it dose slightly taper in at the end but it takes a 51mm cuff
-
Back to my original question then - what's the point in 51mm hose if the inlet is that small?
Avo, who supplied your vac - I'm guessing it wasn't Argos? ;D
-
Filters from screwfix £4.99
And fine mesh if you wanna use one on flea bay

That's good to know so what size cuff and hose does it come with?

pass on that question can I phone a friend 😄
Vac from Machine mart standard not modified
-
Really? Wonder why mine's different. Ah well.
-
Which bit is different Mate?
-
Argos maybe ? ;D

-
Can't remember - maybe I modified it myself to take 38mm - God knows ::)roll
I'll ask him later.
-
Lol.
On a serious note though Reason why having a 51mm hose is better than 38mm it's faster when gulping down chunks you momentarily have to stop while it goes throu each time with 38mm..
Infact if anyone's using a 38mm hose they need to change it ASAP.
-
I've used 38mm for the last five years or more - never blocks only at the nozzle or the inlet.
-
They don't block just slow the clearing out, I can't explain it but 51mm works so much better plus flushing out more frequent with a 38mm because the hose will narrow faster
-
That's funny as the drum I use with an 100mm inlet does block up from time to time ::)roll
-
With oak trees 😄
-
No with just wet crud that builds up on the inlet bend inside the drum. Which would happen to any size inlet bend surely?
-
Hacksawed mine off
-
Why?
Hacksawed mine off
-
To prevent any blockages
there is a plastic filter guard on the inside of the latest nilfisk 30t so cut the leg off the inlet.
-
Oh I see but is that not there to divert the crud away from the filter?

-
Yes but the newer version have a half moon guard around the filters so no need for it 👍
-
Cheers for that avo....I will make sure I get the newer one then or it's going back
-
Really? Wonder why mine's different. Ah well.
The nilfisk comes with 38mm hose .....it has a reducer on it to fit the 51mm inlet.
-
Hacksawed mine off
I did this too. Much better! ;D

sorry not read properly.
But these http://www.guttercleaningsystems.co.uk/
sell alu and carbon tubes with all tools.
They also sell 51mm cuff.
when i spoke to them in summer they said if i didn't buy their vac and got a nisflik they would supply all things needed to plumb together.
Not done vac yey but when i do will be nisflik then these people for tubes tools and hoses
thanks lee
Ps found them really knowledgable and helpful they run a gutter clearing business as well as selling the equipment.
-
They don't have any carbon poles listed on their site so have they stopped selling them?

Are you using a generator for the 30T. For a 3000w vac you need 4.5 kva what would be needed for a 1800w nilfisk etc.
-
you will get away with a 2kw generator easily , it runs at 1800 watts max , normal running is 1400m watts
this would be my ideal penny to match with it.

you would probably get away with the 2.2 kw one which is slightly cheaper though .

[quoteThey don't have any carbon poles listed on their site so have they stopped selling them?][/quote]
Can't see carbon poles either, they were definitely selling them earlier this year.
I am going for alu ones when I get not sure how busy I'll be with gutter vac system.
So keeping outlay low.
When I spoke to the guy their he said they'd used aluminium tubes for years no problems.
Also the tools that fit onto alu tubes look good; when I asked about weeds in swan neck guy said that their weed hook was a great tool and don't need to rely on suction to get weeds that are packed tigbt out.
I was worried about needing ladder to clear some awkward areas as alot of guys on here say vacs don't always work.
But gutter vac system assure me they don't use ladders as they do a lot of commercial work and are no t allowed to use ladders.

Lee, how are you progressing with your vac. I'm still looking into this but haven't hit any order buttons yet.
Looking at the Nilfisk 30T with the alloy poles from gutter cleaning systems and possibly this generator http://www.generatorsnextday.com/miller-petrol-generator-22kw-657-p.asp and 51mm hose from Polar Brite.
What's peoples view on the above items? Also could you attach carbon from Polar to the top of alloy poles.
-
That generator will work although it looks a cheap low quality one.
The reason i like the hyundai is its low weight and small size for its power .....can be picked up like a suitcase.
