Can anyone help with advice on this please, do you need a ticket to use and how much are they to hire per day? Got a big church gutter job to do, vac's a non starter due to gullies etc..thanks.

yes you need to have a licence such as IPAF then it needs to be in correct category to hire one outright however I think im correct in saying if you hire a man and a picker then you can go up in it ... ???
-
if you are going to do it correctly, you will need to go a picker course, about 1 day and £250, also plant insurance, if its on the church land that should about do.
-
Walk away or sub it out. ;)

You dont NEED a IPAF license to hire from a hire company. They dont ask to see it before they will hire you one. BUT... if a HSE officer drives past and decides to stop, he will want to see it. Or maybe the people running the church might want to see it. If you have never used one bfore, i would advise against hiring one and "just having a go"

Depending on how high and what the access is like, i have on 3 occassions hired a guy with a nifty lift. £150 for half a day, £250 for full day.
-
As above.
I need to get ipaf, but the local guy to be only charges £200 for a full day.
Before hiring take some pics and get the picker guy to confirm he can reach where you want to go and can get access the nifty 120 needs 1.2meters opening the 170 a lot wider, but both then need to extend outriggers
It's all controlled from the ground so you'll have plenty of room in the basket

Thanks chaps for the positive info. I spoke to Facelift today and you are right Matt G, no IPAF req'd as long as client is happy under their H&S. Very pricey quote though facelift want £500 per day for a 21m, no operator. It doesn't even get you the diesel! Also the job is only 10mins from facelifts depot.
Trying to get a cheaper lift elsewhere but want the job as always like broadening my horizons, and doing my bit for Jesus :)

fin we found our guy advertising on ebay - maybe search there for cherry picker hire and see if anyone is in your area?
