How come you don't view in real time what you are doing?
Also cone off the area where you are working?

I'd put the cones round the generator as it was on narrow path.

Tbh only just starting using the cam so all takes time to learn I guess.

You got a video you can show me smurf so I can take the tips please

I was not having a go but just asking that's all as if you can view what you are doing can speed things up if areas of guttering don't need clearing or on tricky bits make sure they are all clear before moving on to do the next section. On jobs like that though you will need a shed load of batteries and hope your phone don't die on you as wifi will drain both using the gopro app for a long time.  ;D

Tips:
Rather van struggle with sods/crap stuck on the end of the nozzle and having to drop the pole each time just turn the motors off and do a controlled drop instead in a safe place.

You can also get a remote from maplins that will turn the power on/off if working on your own but at that height have your mate turn it off/on under your instruction. Also he/she can also managed the vac, leads etc so you can be more productive.

To reduce neck and shoulders pain/fatigue I find a necprotech also helps on large jobs. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EqPXXoAtJXY

That's the reason I bought it to speed up the job and pin point moss along the way but and a big but the extra height of holding the poles up for a straight 5 hours was a lot for my arms plus Monday was a straight 4 hours job too 😄 I did have lots in real time but my mate didn't press record. New user mistake lol

You earned your money then that's for sure as I know its bloody hard work. Just don't get carried away like someone I've seen a pic of his top section of his pole got stuck in a downspout for several days just dangling there as he did not have a long enough ladder to retrieve it. He also quit guttervac clearing after doing that one and sold his kit for some strange reason.  ;D

So another tip for you:

On the poles you use tape the sections together so they don't come apart  ::)roll

Well done, Avo, much better and sharper video, those Go pros as bees neez  :)
One thing i noticed, your poles bounce two much, i believe they are not Grippa Tank Poles ?

The more bounce you get on the pole, the harder you work your Arms.

Nilfisk 30t 1800w not really the suited vac on a big job like that but great in domestic homes..
I thought the picture quality wasn't that great but cheers mate 👍

So Avo how do you check those downspout bends are not blocked as is great having clear gutters but is a waste of time if the water can't flow away

Ladders how about you andy?

Ladders always come into play somewhere within work.

Had to hand ball a job 2 weeks ago full to the top with pine needles and no vac on the plant would of managed it.

So you checked all those downspounts on the 3/4 storey hotel jobs by ladder then?

No there checked and clear from 1st elbow on the hotel
I normally rod them through by hand on ladders
We used a unger teleplus pole with cranked angle on it and fused semi stiff hose in it to rod the elbow.

Not on the 4 floors which I explained to the management but the rest was checked they were straight run down with traps in the inside seemless gutters

Nice idea about rodding it from the top on 3 storey using a pole but how do you know elbows are clear and free flowing for sure?

How do you guys check below the storm drains???

If there opened ended that's easy but below ground level???

because I have 2ft hose and it goes round the elbow when pushed all the way in

I've tried that method myself on 2 storey elbows without success as the hose don't go around the bends

I don't tend to mess about with anything below ground myself as is a completely different job to checking and clearing guttering & downpipes. However there are several ways to check guttering downpipes are free flowing.

One that I use quite a bit after I have used a guttervac is this method.

How do you guys check below the storm drains???

Is that kiam triple vac ?

Title: Re: Gutter cleaning
Post by: Smurf on December 01, 2014, 04:19:53 pm
If that doesn't work to check and clear any blockage if I can't take the downpipe & bends apart part then I will use a pressure washer jetter instead.

Post by: Smurf on December 01, 2014, 04:29:42 pm
No was a chepo triple being sold new on fleebay about 200 squid. All I did was use the base and vac motor head from it as used an old 4200 watt omnipole drum with the 100mm inlet so could use the omni hose I already had from an old 4200 omni guttervac.

I get through triple vac heads like there is no tomorrow at least one every year as the motors don't last me very long. ;D

Is that kiam triple vac ?

Yes it's a great little vac to keep in the van while out at work.

Inlets 51mm I think off the top of head mate.
