Title: Need a new pole, any recommendations?
Post by: David stewart on November 27, 2014, 08:22:37 am
Hi, I've been doing this job for 2 1/2 years now, I have a clx22 and used a Harris where suitable to save wear and tear on the gardiners pole. Still using the plastic flow control connection to turn water supply on and off.

Anyway, Im wondering what pole to go for and which length will easily do a three story house? I have a couple on my round which I've had to get using the pole off step ladders.
Also is there much difference between an slx and extreme weight wise and is it worth the cost to go for an extreme?
What gooseneck is best, carbon or swivel head?
And what is the best mod con for turning water supply on and off?

Any input greatly appreciated  ;)

Would you use it as an every day pole mate or have you a shorter one as well for average two story and bungalow work?

My son has an Slx 25
i would only use that for lower stuff or downstairs if I had nowt else
I have an smax 45 that I split and use on 25 feet and above
I use an extreme 18 for lower stuff as well,  but a clx 18 or Slx 18 are good too.
An slx22 was the pole I used a lot before i got the extreme, very good pole
depends how much you want to spend

Is a 25ft pole long enough for three storey work or would you recommend going for a 27/30ft pole?
Going to kit myself out with an 18 for average work plus whatever is best for the third floor stuff. Think il go for slx, haven't used one yet but I've heard great reports about lightness and being more rigid.

Slx 25 does 2 storey work (ie. Ground floor, 1st floor and second floor) no worries - including Georgian / Victorian.
I use an slx25 and an slx 18 for almost everything on residential. The 40 foot (with a 24 inch gooseneck) comes out a few times a week.

Thanks for the reply, your set up is what I've decided on. Time to break the bad news to the wife haha!
