Title: Repair microbore hose reel
Post by: H20cleaning on November 25, 2014, 08:29:50 pm
I have 100m of 8mm microbore hose, and about 50m there is a pub size hole so the water is soaking my van when its in to and from jobs/ over night.

Is there any way of repairing the hose to use as a spaire on3? Obviously im buying a new hose but wouldnt mind keeping the old if its still usable.
Thanks

You can buy joiners which i ain't a fan of.

I have seen people melt the casing with a soldiering iron before. Don't know if it works tho.

If my microbore is 8mm thick what joiner would i need because obviously the inside would be thinner wouldnt it?
Cheers

I think 8mm is the inner diameter mate
Use two 'o' rings to clamp the joiner down if you can (be warned that they will catch on stuff when dragging about)

8mm is the internal bore size. Ideally you want a 9mm/10mm barbed joiner. Then use o clips to join it.

Hi tonycarr

How do use this tape exactly?

Is it in conjunction with a joiner and O clips or can it be used on its own somehow ?

Thanks

Nick

hi nick....its not a sticky tape as such but it self fuses to itself, what you do is stretch it and wind it around any sort of leak

i used some my self as an emergency repair after having a fight with a rose bush, hoping it would suffice until i got home, two months later its still on there. really good stuff

id recommend for us all to have a roll in our tool kit

i found this youtube clip that illustrates its many uses

Buy an over size joint and heat the hose and stretch till it fits into the hose. E G your hose is 8 mm id then buy a te mm joint and stretch by heating to go over the joint .Or you can get a John Guest push fit the same as what is used in side the pole at 8mm then tape it when fitted.
