I've been asked quite a bit lately if I can clean mohair rugs, has anyone had experience of these rugs? And how are they cleaned

How brave are you ?????
If it's a real Mohair its massively expensive anything from £700 per sq mt :o
How to clean ?
Take it to a very clean flat floor hose it down and wash with baby shampoo using a sponge ,rinse out with the hose and allow to dry naturally lying flat, do not hang it to dry it may go out of shape.
It will take days to settle back down again. They look amazing after but deffinately not for the faint hearted.
Charge them around £75 - £100 per sq mt
Do not HWE it will kill the pile as will roto.
Very lucrative work but high risk so charge accordingly.

Great post, Hilton. I wouldn't touch it with a barge pole because I have no experience on training on expensive rugs like that.
I wonder how many cc'ers have gone ahead and just cleaned one, not knowing the issues :o

I get enquires all the time, well a few a month anyway, but I have no experience or training for this type of rug, and for that reason I refuse to clean them, the last enquiry said service master used to clean them for about £45

Would host sponges gently brushed in then later vacuumed do the trick........Alan
