Title: Purefreedom pump
Post by: LBWCS on November 19, 2014, 12:20:51 pm
Have got a booster pump that comes with the purefreedom 650 to setup. Has anyone had any experience with these? Mines is getting real hot and has just started making a really bad squeeling noise. Something ain't right. Any advise?

I've got the Aqua 8800 for my 450 and they do get quite hot as for squeaking noise sounds odd, mine does make slight buzzing noise and gets abit louder the longer it's running. Should only get hot at one end thou

Whilst pumps will get hot, the squeeling noise could indicate a bearing failure. PureFreedom will be able to advise further. If its the large unit that looks like a motor then I would imagine any pump specialist will be able to repair it for you.

Just spoke to purefreedom and they were very helpful but only limited due to being over the phone. Looks like it could be either the pump section, apparently the brass coloured section at the top, or the motor, the black section. Might try changing one at a time to see if that solves it. Can't see a link to the parts on their website tho

If I were you I would take it apart and identify where the problem is coming from first.

That pump cost around £400.00 as a option add on if memory serves me. If the parts that are available are either the motor assembly or the pump assembly, then you will find that the cost of the two parts in total will be more than a new pump.

It could be that your tap pressure has been too low, mines is noisy too if my tap pressure drops due to running a bath or flushing the toilet for example.
