Any thoughts or previous experience of canvassing in winter?

Only worth it if you want work and to expand your biz, if not stay at home

Cheers Darran
I am always looking to get more work in the past though I have always just focussed on cleaning in the winter and doing jobs that just trickle in so just wanted to know how people find it compared to other times of the year.

You can get some great work from canvassing in the winter the only proviso is from December you may get the Christmas clean only brigade. But normally you can get the same hit rate now as in spring or summer. You may even feel you hit the jackpot on Saturdays or Sunday's with a bright sunny day!
The low sun shows up how bad the windows are, either they are not being done or just badly done, And around here a large number of windys hibernate through the winter

At this time of the year always make sure you charge a first clean rate - for example, quote £10.00 every 4 weeks - pause for a brief moment until that price registers - and then add that the initial clean will be £15.00 or what ever you chose.
That way you don't loose out when they alter the terms of the agreement immediately after they have paid you.

Normally when building a round I wouldn't recommend charging extra for a first clean, but over the Christmas period
its a lot easier to get caught out so would agree with Spruce.
You could still get caught out but at least you get better paid for the one off.

Ive been picking up loads of work this month dont know if its just coincidence but i was starting to feel with the bad weather and early nights canvassing would be hard but all the work ive found has made me just crack on anyway ...

I always charge a initial clean on all jobs and at this time of year especially so usually 1.5-2 times
I've been caught out too many times not to do it now! ;D

What is the practical difference between option 2 "no" and 3 "not worth it"?

What time have you guys been canvassing in the week night evenings ?

Its well worth canvassing in the winter a little trick I learned last year (closer to xmas time) was to say we can come before christmas or in the new year what would you prefer, then just ring the ones for the new year, beginning of Jan

How does that help? ???

Last year a couple of weeks before Xmas I was going out all day and struggling the reason for the struggle was people didn't want it that side of Xmas as soon as I adapted the script I started to pick up my standard rate of bookings, just meant I had to do a few calls in jan.
