Soon as i start my December month i make sure i say to every customer " this is the last clean before christmas! Hope you have a good one" and it reminds them to leave me a tip!
I never expect tips off anyone to be honest, its just a nice bonus when they give you them:)

got 75 last year none so far this year my guess is that they don't tip as a rule as round here the work is so cut throat that they don't have to as some one will do the work for what the tip would be.
there is a joker is going round with a flyer claiming he will charge 75% off what your cleaner charges
another will do any house any size three pounds,,,,,,,,
I have had one follow me into a shop and in front of me say he will do the job 2 pounds cheaper than whatever I charged  gotta love Croydon
I kid you not

Employ him and pay him £3 per house on all your round, then sit back and enjoy the profit.
