If your old tax runs out tonight, your new tax will run from tomorrow.
Ours runs out tonight; we renewed it a week ago and it forward dated it to tomorrow.

I'm assuming you're using the renewal form rather than just buying new tax for the van, of course.

im having to use new keeper supplement at minute still waiting for v5 forms to come in my name in post as dont think lad who ran my business has sent them off
-
I'm confused.
If the van tax expires today, then the van needs to be taxed from tomorrow onwards otherwise the van will be on the road with no tax - surely?
Or am I missing the point?
-
If the van tax expires today, then how can the online application state that the new tax will run from 1st October?
I thought you could apply for the new tax up to 2 weeks before renewal, for it to run from the first of the next month, be it online or the old way.

Renew vehicle tax
Your vehicle Vehicle details Renewal period Renewal period check Pay Done
The vehicle tax you applied for is:
Start date 01 October 2014 Duration 6 Months Registration number YC56 XAN Vehicle make VAUXHALL Price £123.75 Payment method Card payment
There's an additional £2.50 fee for paying by credit card (including prepaid cards). There is no fee for paying by debit cards.

Hi, you said you still only have the new keeper part,
When did you buy the van ???
because if it was after the 30th September tax is not transferable to new owner so you have been driving round with no tax and would be the only reason that you have to pay from the 1st of October
-
it was my van but ive been on holiday at hmp
ya could be on to something to be honest
-
Are you renewing or applying for tax?
If renewing there should be no problem
If applying for new tax (under the new rules) you've got to pay the full months tax no matter the date. So your better off doing it in the morning
-
Jeeeeez.
How can something as simple as taxing a van become sooooooo complex? ???
Richy mate, you've done it again. ;D
-
sorted it now just taxed it from 1st november
rosskesava this is how my life is all the time nothing ever just goes simple for me always twists and turns
