Title: removing crystalisation
Post by: Neil Mc Anulty on October 30, 2014, 11:11:51 am
Is it possible to remove the finish from a marble floor that has been crystallized by honing with a powder rotary and brush/pad and then polishing with kp 85 powder

Neil

Great question but I am afraid that there is no hard and fast method.  It depends on what crystallizer was used!  Sometimes we have had floors where it has flown off with HDT&G.  On others we have added honing powder to the HDT&G and it has come off and others we have stripped just using a stripper and then there have been some where the only way we have been able to get it off was to grind it.  Ultimately it all depends on the product used!

Test! Test! Test!

if its a kleever finish, you need to diamond cut the surface

I did test a bit with 220 grit honing powder and water and a hand brush and was removing the shine

Well try another test with HDT&G coupled with honing powder and your rotary and it will probably sort it
