Post by: Kev Martin on October 27, 2014, 09:29:18 am
Clearly a work still in process.  We have a few conversions to do and a few spelling mistakes to sort but very happy so far

Sensible Comments please on any improvements

Morning Kev....

Firstly, it doesn't fit the iPad (well mine) page runs off the edge.

Overall the feel is nice, warm, and straightforward.

The one thing I really don't like is the headings with a line above the writing, don't knoe why, but it just bugs me

Very useful feedback!  Thank you for that!  We are looking into converting for a mobile site but we need to get it correct on the desktop first.  It is in the pipeline

I would have a seperate 'about the company' page rather than have all the small text on the home page. Are people really so interested in company information that it should have such relevance on the homepage?

People who land on the homepage want to have easy navigation of the website pages if they want company info the will click a appropraite page

The home page is all over the page...very basic mistake...sack Prosite if they built it for you.
The images  need resizing ...all of them ...this is what is causing the site to load slow.

Your Home page has the title Home so is optimised for that word.

Google "Home" and that will show you the competition this page has.

It should read Miracle Cleaners and Sealers for Natural Stone & Tile or similar desired keywords.

Same for the titles of the other pages. Support Tools should be titled with the associated keywords for the page content.

It doesn't fit my MacBook screen.

Phone number and address look like they are an image rather than text

Needs a blog attached.

The Home page is about the company. It should be about what Miracle Sealants can do for the end user.
I dont care if they were born on Mars and have chocolate for blood.
I would be more interested in what the products can do.
The backlink on the where to buy to tilinglogistics doesnt work.
This should also read Tiling Logistics Natural Stone Specialists (or similar chosen Keyword) as the anchor text.

Who built this site for you?

Thanks everyone for the feedback

Kev
Including me?
The site is rubbish ...Pay somebody who knows what they are doing to build you a wordpress site.
This is a shop window for your product.....there are many shops in your street.
I have an Asian web designer who will build you a site for £150.

Valid point about Wordpress unless its going to integrate ecommerce onto the page in some way and your current cart back end isnt compatible..

Yes EVERYONE includes YOU

Bear in mind I asked for feedback though!  Not derogatory comments!

Just so you know!   The person who did the site was having a go!  This is the reason for asking for Feedback!  We will take all feedback on board and get it right!  The site is designed to Emulate:

www.miraclesealants.com

However, they spent close to a $1,000,000 US Dollars on that site and it took nearly a year!

The person who did ours took a week and said "It's not right but once you get feedback I will improve it"  They are not Website designers either!!!

I   appreciate you were getting it done for cheap by "somebody having a go " ...it shows!

If you came across this website what would you think? You have about 30 seconds once somebody arrives on your home page to convince them to stay.

Whilst I know and  respect as one of the leading authorities on internal stone restoration ...how does  a member of public landing on THAT website know this?

Get he Asian man to build a wordpress site for you that you can add stuff to yourself daily... £250 max
Spending millions on website is a thing of the past...
The old adage applies "If you think it's expensive to hire a professional to do the job, wait until you hire an amateur".

Chris

You are wrong!  I know nothing about computers but what I do know is you can't get a Professional Website built by someone for £150, £250 or even a £1K.  If so point me to one, and tell me how much they charged and then you get me one done by them and invoice me +20% for your trouble when you quote me!

So now I am waiting!!!  Let's have a link to a £250 website?

Moreover, knowing Miracle Sealants the way I do and the two Brothers who run it I can assure you they would not spend $1 US Dollar more than they need to!  So are you telling me that your Asian guy can build me the Miraclesealants.co.uk website to the .Com standard for £250?  If so when can you get it done for me?  I want exactly the same website with Big Ben on it and the Union Jack with my contact details on it and the SqFt Calculator converted to M2 so they don't even need to do a design do they!!!

I am waiting!!!!

;D ;D Home life is good Joe ...your website doesn't work....http://www.jbpropertycare.com

Kevin is thick skinned.... he can take it.
I like him really....very astute man.
This year Kevin  has taught me . I am a professional ...a solution provider to peoples external cleaning and sealing problems. Because of Kevin I now charge accordingly.
I know absolutely nothing about internal floors and as I have said , I believe Kevin to be one of the most authoritative figures in this field.
But and it is a big but ...there is only one opinion that is correct and that is Kevins even if it's absolute rubbish and he don't have a clue what he is going on about.

It's not my website anymore... Was when I first came on here - I'll take it off, thanks.

That may well be the case and that's good that you've gained useful information from someone else. I don't doubt for a second that you know what you're talking about in respects to a lot of aspects of cleaning (or with this particular subject as your sites do look quite well put-together) but you just go the right way about winding people up the wrong way.

Sometimes it's a funny read, but more often than not you just come off as a prat and it's quite off-putting, for me and I'm sure others too, coming on a website for ideas and inspiration to just find the same immature crap that we all dealt with in our teenage years happening on an informative website.

Just try to get that chip off your shoulder and stop acting as if you want to get one over on everyone you come into contact with. You have some helpful tips for people on here, don't waste your knowledge selling yourself short by arrogance.

Joe ...What i object too is bull**** . People come on here asking for advice ,people that don't have a clue  (about there question /subject) give them some.

As far as I am concerned (if i feel) they don't have a clue they have left themselves wide open for questioning and bit of banter . If they don't like it...thats there problem.

I am always willing to help others...I have made many mistakes and sometimes I have learnt from them (sometimes not) ).

Kevins website for instance....I now have 14 websites some good ,some bad. Some that have cost a lot of money (and are worse than my Asian sites)!
I feel I can pass comment on the basics of a decent website backed by the fact that I have a "good" understanding of what is required by customers . I also have a "basic" understanding of SEO .
If I can point Kevin in the right direction whilst saving money I will do.

IF he spits his dummy cause I said it was rubbish...so what .
It won't hurt as much as paying out to some "SEO" firm that's going to rape :o him for a basic website.

Joe  IF I can be of any help to you in any way please feel free to call me.

So are you comparing these sites to this?

http://miraclesealants.com

????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

Title: Re: New Website
Post by: chris scott on October 29, 2014, 10:46:32 pm
No they are not comparable .
These (my) sites do a completely different job to the  miracle sealant site.

Use the tools I have given you. Test the site for yourself.

http://gtmetrix.com/reports/miraclesealants.com/f6xdm8yM
http://nibbler.silktide.com/en_US/reports/miraclesealants.com

The (miraclesealant.com) site needs loads of work to even bring it up to the performance of my Asian built sites.

Kev, were you putting the site up for comments about the look rather than detailed SEO stuff (that was my impression)?

Chris,

People in glass houses should not throw stones. You'd better find another web builder.

These sites....

http://www.driveway-cleaning.co
http://www.gutter-cleaning.co
http://www.render-cleaning.co
www.cleaning-service.uk.com

...all have serious flaws in their build; enough for each one to have a degree of penalty from Google. That will take far longer to resolve than speeding up Kev's site. Did you not check them before you paid the guy?

Quote
The (miraclesealant.com) site needs loads of work to even bring it up to the performance of my Asian built sites.

Whilst we are talking about page load speed, let's look at www.cleaning-service.uk.com.

1/ https://developers.google.com/speed/pagespeed/insights/?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.cleaning-service.uk.com%2F&tab=desktop

desktop score 34 / 100
mobile score  29 /  100

2/
http://gtmetrix.com/reports/www.cleaning-service.uk.com/VM7O5CiP

Page Speed    D 68%
Yslow              C  75%

Average load speed 8 + seconds

3/
http://tools.pingdom.com/fpt/#!/bgh81Y/www.cleaning-service.uk.com/

Av load speed   8 + seconds

Now if you are in low competition markets you may get away with this but if it's high competition you'll struggle. On the plus side your backlink anchor text diversity is not bad at all.

It's a bit rich laying into Kev's sites when yours need so much sorting or have I walked into an "in joke" between mates?
Title: Re: New Website

The site has new slider and slider images on it this morning....
They need resizing hence the slow load speed ....what other flaws have you found?

Much better...clean an easy to find what you are looking for.

On the "stain page " . I would dedicate a clickable box to the type of stain...thats all too confusing .
Ie coffee ,tea, juice  stain..click here etc. As you have done with your sealers page
