Title: Boots
Post by: PoleKing on October 15, 2014, 06:57:06 pm
I've been using the trusty Berghaus boots for the last 18 months or so-Daz's recommendation. £130(I think) we'll spent.
Good call, thanks Daz.
Anyway.
I got soggy feet yesterday, first time.
Dried them out, think they'd be fine today.
Soggy feet by 9am.

So, popped along to sports direct tonight.
Spotted a pair of Gelert(not a bad brand) waterproof boots for £60.
Not too dissimilar to the Berghaus ones tbh.
A bargain I thought at £60.

Anyway-went to pay and they scanned at £32.99!
On the box was the 'reduced' sticker, so it wasn't a cock up on pricing.
Checked on the way out-definitely says £60 on the shelf.

Just thought I'd post and let you know they're out there if you want a cheap decent pair of boots lads.
They're cheaper than those massive Karrimor fluffy snow boot things!

Am I right in thinking Gelert have been bought by Mike Ashley? If so it may be their quality goes the same way as Karrimor and everything else he touches  ::)roll

There might be some truth in that, Gelert used to be top notch, I looked at some the other week & they were on par with Karrimor rubbish!!

Just checked with our lad who works p/t for sports direct - Gelert are owned by Sports Direct, but the employees get a bonus with each pair of karrimor shoes/boots sold. And so another make is removed from my shopping list  :-\

I bought some Karrimor shoes for the summer and they are still going strong - totally waterproof. £25.
