Title: Crafty B'stards
Post by: Dave Willis on October 03, 2014, 08:39:57 pm
Watch out for the scummy motor insurers they've found a new trick.

What they do is not send you a reminder that your insurance is due. I got a phonecall today informing me my insurance actually runs out today and what would I like to do about it?

They are almost as low as bank managers these days.  >:(

Most don't even do that. They renew through last years details. They do it automatically. SO wrong

Cant do that, from 2011 all vehicles have to be insured even if they are parked up.

Can't leave them for another year.

You have a 14 day cooling off period in which you can cancel without reason or cost.

General accident have sent me an email reminding me that mine is due to end 30th this month and if I don't do anything it will renew automatically.

Better than not letting you know.

Swinton did the same with me. I just arranged alternative insurance then rang swinton to explain and was refunded the initial payment without question.

As seank said, there is a 14 day cooling off period so you are well within your rights to cancel and ask for a refund.

and ....... after the guy going through all the details on the phone and telling me I was covered with breakdown insurance (which surprised me so I asked again). My policy comes through today with no breakdown cover but surprise surprise I get an email out of the blue today from Green Flag trying to sell me cover  ::)roll
