Hi rob, just seen the van tracking and CRM your planning to add. Am doing a free trail with a virtual office this week.

Could you explain what it is your going to be offering.

Hi,

To be honest, I'm almost certainly going to implement "Route optimisation" (i.e. one click to optimise your round or worksheet order) ahead of "Van tracking", as there are already plenty of good van tracking options out there (e.g. www.ramtracking.com) and I can't see a way that Cleaner Planner could integrate with them in a valuable way... but I'm open to suggestions! That said, there is scope for Cleaner Planner to offer a simpler and more cost-effective built-in van tracking capability (systems like RAM can get expensive and maybe overkill for some businesses), e.g. if we were to use the GPS on the phones that the lads are using for the mobile app...

I'm currently mulling these ideas over and chatting with users about how they would like them to work. If you have some suggestions perhaps we should have a chat. Are you around next week at all? Drop me an email rob@cleanerplanner.com and we can set up a call.

Thanks,

Rob

rob any chance of a new client lead sheet form on the mobile app be a lot easier than routing round looking for a pen and paper in the van coz there so last year!! be handy to just sync it over to the system

What about when you finish a job and you click to say cleaned ect, could it record the time the job was completed?

Hi Rob,

Route optimisation would be a great piece of kit to have. Just make sure it takes into account all the one way systems and bus only routes in Swindon  :D

Richy - what I recommend for now is to note down any new leads/customers in the "Notes" area at the top of the worksheet on the mobile app. These will then appear on the PC/Mac when you upload at end of day for you to action accordingly. As I say though, an add customer/job feature will be coming to the mobile app soon!

Niceandclean - it already records the day but potentially could record the time... how are you thinking you would use this data? Perhaps to monitor the time taken to do a job?

Lance - hehe yep, good point ;) Generally speaking the route planning software seems to be pretty good with one ways etc these days, but you might still want to tweak it afterwards (which you could of course) if you know something that the software doesn't (e.g. roadworks) but I can see it doing a good job of getting the bulk of your round in the right order, and would be particularly handy for commercial jobs which take you from pillar to post.

Ram tracking is not that expensive. I have it on one van and it is really useful. CP sounds like an excellent product by the way.

Not sure that would work too well. You'd either have to have a start/stop function on the app which would mean faffing around lots throughout the day when you could be working, or just have the timer constantly running which wouldn't give you an accurate reading because of travel.

Just my opinion.
