hi I'm still looking for a system and found a 500ltr water genie system £1000 on eBay and I'm just wondering if it is good?
-
Thinking of buying tomorrow any advise would put my mind at rest!

Not much help but I have a water genie trolley which has been used for two years without any problem at all.

It is a very basic system. Its a standard plastic tank with a steel frame around it. The photo taken for the ebay picture already shows rust at the bottom of the frame where is hasn't been painted properly. The colour blue will make it difficult to see the water level but I maybe wrong as I have a 'clear' tank. There doesn't seem to be any water shutoff system when the tank is full, so expect flooding of your van if you forget the r/o is on.
The controller seems to be a very basic 'DIY' type that is sold on Ebay and just reduces the pump flow but relies on the pumps pressure switch. I don't recognise the pump. But a good controller and pump can be purchased from Ebay for around £200 or a little more if these don't last.
The r/o unit is a 4040 but the prefilter is the minimum you can buy. Although you can fit a replacement Fiberdyne sediment and chlorine combination filter, my personal preference is for a separate sediment and chlorine block filter, especially if your water is sediment laden like ours is.
You have the choice of HF4 or HF5 membranes for the r/o depending on your water pressure. As the HF5 is more expensive, we can guess that they have fitted an HF4 which is for higher water pressure.
The DI vessel is also very small and you will probably have to upgrade it, especially if you are in a hard water area.
Whilst price seems to be the attraction here, I would look at a more expensive unit TBH. Purefreedom make a good range and the frame is (use to be) made from stainless steel, they have 2 prefilters, you can upgrade to a HF5 membrane if your water pressure is low, and they use top end controllers and pumps.
The other option is to talk to Doug at www.daqua.co.uk and tell him exactly what you are looking for and ask him for a price.

I think the genie is an entry level purifier, whilst it has the basic components, you can upgrade to a bespoke system, with all the whistles and bells.
For instance you can upgrade to a hydroflo controller with a dead end facility.
Or a shurflo pump
As you earn your money improvements can be made over the coming months/years to the purification system i.e. softener, larger pre filters etc.
The frame can handle all these improvements as it comes directly from the pro system they offer.

I know I need a batterie but what type and what wiring will I need? I like the idea of upgrading as I earn my pressure at my tap is very good how long do you think it will take to fill the 500ltr tank my water according to tds machine is 207 will this be a problem ?

If you buy a leisure battery from them, it would be wired up ready to use
What's your pressure in psi?

I don't have a lot of knowledge on wfp cleaning that's why I have been asking questions on here! I mainly do pressure washing and gutter clearing but I keep getting asked for windows and conservatories I will only be doing one day a week probably at windows so I didn't want to spend £3000-£5000 on a system as I had already spent £7000 on Omnipole equipment also bought a ashby ninja carpet cleaner too so I don't have any spare cash but I don't want to turn work away I was looking at another system on eBay which looked more diy and this came from a company where I can upgrade parts as of when I need them ideally I should buy batterie and everything else from them but my bank said no so I thought I can force as I go.
