You have to join to see the posts/threads etc.

Eagerly waiting my approval hehe

Jettaway
Going to have to tell me what it's all about because I can't spend time on Facebook!
Rob ;D
-
Rob,
Their favorite thing is Brick Acid !!!! seem to think it is the way forward.
I have tried to help on a couple of occasions on there, but it was hard work.
So for me it's comedy central at the end of the day.
-
Darren @ Purple Rhino is on there and a few other names I recognise!
Rob ;D
-
I just KNEW you would be talking about this facebook page Roger!!
Some comedy gold on there, people using rakes to clean roofs, karchers on driveways, hippoclerc acid (?!) to name a few.. All window cleaners with £50 machines giving anyone decent a bad name!
I joined originally thinking it could be a good page to network, but stayed for a laugh at the chimps!

I waited for as long as I could Alex, but it just gets better by the day, Love the hippoclerc acid??? what the f**k is that, I liked the statement that we are all bell-ends on here from one of them.
-
Thats Chrissy ? High end bell end ::)roll
-
They won't accept my requests! Getting annoyed now
-
Probably not up to their high expectations mate. Just called you back but to voicemail. Will ring you in the morning
Rob ;D
-
I havent been accepted either. :'(
-
That sites gold!
I could read it for hours lol
-

And it'll get better, you just know it.
Spell checking or at least the grasp of English is an optional extra.
-
There's a guy on there today who has spent 7 hours on a roof with a wire brush ;D
But don't worry he's getting his karcher on it tomorrow.
-
I'd have been bored after about 7 minutes and got the pressure washer out. He seems to think his 2.5KW electric Karcher will be a bit overkill ??? I got straight in - how come you lot all got black balled ?
-
What's a karcher put out 130bar 5lpm ? Lol
-

And he doesn't even know what a 'coney thing' is ?!
If you have that little knowledge of pressure washing then you shouldn't be any where near this roof job.
Typical it looks easy and any monkey can do it attitude.
That site makes all our topics sound intelligent.

cant use those coney things as it may fire the ball bearing out of it :o
-
I've just got on it, the coney thing is the best post I've ever seen, watch out for those ball bearings. Amazing.
-
Where does one buy "hippo" as I can't seem to find it other then London Zoo.
F**king idiots
-
I just give up with arguing on that site, I try but just feel like I'm talking to a wall. Its a great read though 8)
-
Chris
It's a complete joke, all bloody idiots that haven't got a clue.
Think it's time for me to close my membership.
-
Tell me about it Roge. Plus the Pressure Washing course I just read about on here.
This trade is becoming more diluted by the day.
Im gonna stay on this comedy site just to laugh at numptys
-
What made me chuckle was my so called competitor admitting that his machine is from Argos :D
-
Hi fellas,
Are there courses out there that you would recommend as a good standard and professional as I have been looking for a while now and don't want to go down the route of doing a course to find what I have learnt isn't up to the standard that you guys work to.
Or is it a case of the best way to learn is on the job from someone experienced? The reason I like the idea of a course is as you guys have pointed out there seems to be a lot of bad practise taking place and I wouldn't want to learn the bad habits etc.
Thanks,
Tom
-
Do a Smartseal ( www.smartseal.co.uk ) course.
It won;t make you Pro but it will give you a introduction into the industry.
-
Learn by shadowing someone. Courses will be a benefit but it won't make you a pro.
I see these 1 week plasterers courses where people go on them, then buy a van and away they go. It doesn't make them a pro though, ask any plasterer.
-
Thanks for the advice fellas much appreciated.
-
Tom
There isn't a training course out there that will help you to understand the bits between the obvious.
We all need a machine, we all need a water supply, we all need something to clean but it's the link stuff that you have to pick up.
I'll save you some money.
If you get stuck, want a chat, some help with anything, whether set up or anything else post it on here or email me and I will help you out.
There's nothing complicated about what we do but there is a lot to it if you want to be better than the average. They won't teach you that at Smartarseseal
Rob ;D
-
What Rob has said +1
Tom, any training course will show you the basic's think I answered this bit before, as to getting to a "standard" then that takes time and experience sometimes years, it doesn't come overnight.
I noticed you are in Essex, this is not any area we cover, but how serious are you at doing this line of work? I might be able to help.
-
Roger can you please lock this thread ..I'm going for a hat trick.

I think it is something you do with "hippo"? but not sure as I'm not experienced enough yet like those pressure washing gods on there !!!! ;)
-
Thanks for those replies guys I appreciate it
Roger, its not something I will be doing before the new year but I like to get my head around as much as possible in advance, thanks for the guidance I will no doubt be on here bothering you and everyone else for advice as my biggest concern was picking up some bad habits.
Tom
-
You'll pick-up bad habits mate, people do. If you are not starting until next year, then you have time to do some research, read old posts and ask questions before making the leap into this.
-
some great posts on there at the moment about pressure washing asbestos roofs and sand patterns on block paving ::)roll

didn't realise that :o
-
I saw that.
The guy couldn't figure out why the pattern under the table was different from the rest of the patio after it had rained. (caused by the rain running off the table splashing the jointing sand).
-
I know. He probably felt stupid after he found out how simple the answer was.
He just couldn't hold his hands up and laugh at himself.. Had to argue the toss.
-
Theres good post on there now :P :P :P

I could have given advice, but would the home or from the looks of the place, shack owner want to spend around 20K? Must admit, it was a great wind-up, didn't realise it was Ian to be honest.
