Hi all
Thinking of upgrading to a truckmount next year, its a toss up between h/master 318 or p/chem blazer
im a single opo with domestic and light com work so hope i will have the power i need with one of these?
Also i live in the northwest of England not sure if there are any service centres up here?
Any thoughts welcome

Have you looked at the phoenix 450
-
Im also considering upgrading next year and have looked at the same machines but have also been looking at the Mytee Escape ETM it looks to have pretty good specs for an electric machine. All the benefits on an entry level TM without the cost or fuel cost.

Forget it, it's a joke in my opinion. All of those electric cables!!! ;D
You would be much better of with an entry level TM running on LPG. Trust me, the cost of running a TM is absolute peanuts in comparison to what it earns you in extra quality and productivity.

I have had 2 long established customers go back to porties in the last few weeks.
-
There was some guy from Essex posted on TMF that hes running an escape and he was raving about it and i think hes from a family business with truckmounts ... so there is at least one out there .
Would only buy the latest latest version though as they have just fitted a revised pumpout that was causing problems .
-
John, why is that? Is it because of an insufficient work volume or something else?

I know a guy who has gone back to a portable, his truckmount broke with age and he couldn't afford another one so took the cheaper option and went back to using a portable.
I see portable sellers saying the fact that truckmount users are going back to portables is due to the increase in performance with the new breed of Portables which equal TM Power at a fraction of the cost..... but in reality it's just the can't afford to buy a new truck-mount
-
Richard,
both good machines. I would say go for the one which is nearest to you should you ever have a problem. I`ve got for the Blazer recently as Prochem are only an hour away whereas H/M are an 11 hour round journey. Had the Blazer for a year and a half and has been very reliable. (fingers crossed and touching wood!!)

There is no such thing, and I doubt there ever will be, a portable that can match a TM for power. At least not until they manage to screw 18 horsepower out of an electric socket - or socketsssssssss.

I have gone back to using a porty and it's not because of the cost of a truckmount believe me I could afford to buy another. Mortgage nearly finished wife has excellent paid job so cost didn't come into it, I simply don't need to work as much as I did in the past. I'd rather spend my time doing other things rather than clean carpets flat out day in day out
It fits my needs now as I'm not rushing around like a lunatic like I did in the past plus doing more commercial work where a t/m cannot be used. I get the same results with the porty as I did with the t/m all be it a bit slower but not one customer has asked "are you not using the machine from the van" they simply don't care as long as you get the desired result
Sometimes it's look at me I've got a big shiny new t/m look how well I'm doing or then again some just cobble together what passes for a t/m just so they can join the truckmount club. Then some buy high powered portables and run them from the van when they may as well of just spent the extra and bought a t/m each to their own. There is also a lot of brain washing of how cold water cleans better than hot water so why buy t/m or hot water extraction machines

Multiple motors may be more efficient than a pd blower driven by the same current ...
From what I've read .... Escape is similar to an 18hp up to 100ft , after that it drops compare to the PD but obviously you still have more that a twin vac portable .
If within your area you can mostly pull up to the door of houses or jobs it may save you time effort .

2 power cords @ 13amp will never equal a18hp petrol engine no matter how the power is used, it denies the laws of physics.
If the escape equaled a small truckmount then mytee would be shouting it from the rooftops with videos and demonstrated proof, not leaving it to owners to make comments on forums about its supposed power
Steve don't think my earlier post was referring to you :-*

but your not comparing equals ... if you were comparing a PD turned with x electrical current against an 18HP then you could defiantly state that ...
but you are turning a different blower design and multiples of them .

i met a cleaner the other day who had a Bane Clean TM - heard of them but never seen one before
i was amazed to see everything runs off one plug!!
he raved about it and told me of some scary hose lengths he worked at with it but i was unconvinced a machine running everything off a single plug was capable of what he was asking of it to get desired results
anyone ever used one? i dont want one!! i am just intrigued as to whether they do truly perform?
-
Simon you're spoilt with your tm so comparing yours to the etm is a bit silly yours would suck it up. I was suitably impressed with the etm at 100ft, I used my bane with 2 vac blowers it was quite a hassle.
IMO if you get a tm get one from a supplier you like, also I'd get a big one the engine will not be running it's knackers off.

I went back to a van mounted storm a couple of years ago from the prowler and like Steve Gunn its certainly not because i couldnt afford a truckmount, my new van is 22k. Its because i am busy but the storm suits the way i work and i probably get through the work just as quick as with the prowler because im not in and out to the van to turn it on and off, especially handy having remote on and off when working upstairs.
Also there is very little difference in performance between the prowler and the storm.

OOOPS!
Didnt mean to start another tm v porty debate...dont fancy an ETM tho kinda defeats the object
heard a rumour that prochem were setting up a in the north, if that were the case then a blazer would be a good choice
-
Prochem also do the sapphire truckmounts both the Rage and 370ss machines look interesting The whole range seem to offer quite a bit more power for the money. Don't seem to here much about them on here though.

Shaun is bang on there
I was looking at an air cooled tm but soon realized their engines were nearly always on high revs when cleaning, so I waited and saved a bit more money and I got my self a fully refurbished prochem performer 49hp water cooled 4 cylinder from gp cleaners and it is the best investment I think I will ever make ;)

Shaun,
I've got a Maxx 450d as well as the 875 and while the 875 could suck a bowling ball out of a closet with the door closed, the 450 isn't quite as powerful but very economical and highly reliable. To even contemplate an ETM you have to be certain that you can pull up at every door or driveway and sometimes that just isn't possible, so you have got to run not only hoses to the job but at least two power cables across pavements and grass etc with the obvious safety concerns that go with it.

Richard - I would not worry unduly about whether Prochem have a depot up north or indeed where any tm supplier is based - once the first year warranty expires its probably more important you have located someone you can trust locally who will sort out the occasional niggle you will get with using an IC engine day in day out. My experience of trucking all the way up to chessington world of adventure was not good on both occasions where I needed to get things done very quickly and I was not impressed with their customer service levels or their approach to the customer or their prices of parts (lots of them are available off the shelf elsewhere at much less) - all well and good if you can plan regular maintenance at the official/importer/ warranty provider first off after all it is 'their' brand you are buying and the service level should be a part of what you pay for at the outset - I found HM much more user friendly when I went there but as my machine is a pc I eventually found a small company that specialised in small petrol engined cleaning machines who provide a fantastic level of service and knowhow and are just very decent people to do business with - super-service near wallingford oxon contact bob...

Local petrol lawnmower repairer can usually help with little niggles on the 318 Briggs engine.
