Odd it was sold for £18 yet when I look there it is again by same seller   Very odd

There needs to be more of a sales pitch on what it is for etc
 .

I was outbid so I decided to purchase a new one @ £44.00 (delivered) with a 5 year warranty. Arrived this morning.

Can you get any other pads apart from the sponge type, that fit this buffer?

yes, that come with the standard velcro discs so brushes and pads and all sorts will go on!!
