Hi All,
Does anyone have any experience of Truck Washing on a regular basis?
If so, what equipment do you use?
Many Thanks,
Andy

I often see one of the big fleet washing firms van working and they have a 1000l flat tank and Honda p/w with chemical pick up, lots of high pressure hose and a brush.
I have thought about doing it but unsure of what to charge and I don't think my 400 litres would last very long.

Andy i do this. I clean at one site and we do not use any water tanks etc. we use the customers external taps to feed the power washer.
Have two machines, only use one and one is kept as a spare incase there's a problem. The machines are a small Clarke Tiger 2500 and a Chinese sub £200 ebay jobby. I'm not recommending them as machines to use i just use them because i had them. Them both have a chemical pick up for applying TFR. Mostly they still need a scrub with a brush, we use one of them small "caravan " cleaning brushes for the low level stuff up to say head height and an old WFP brush with a soft, rounded Vikan brush for the tops and windscreens etc.
Also we only clean the tractor units and no trailers or box bodies.

I cleaned BOC Gist's fleet of 84 tractive units (internally) for a couple of years, over at Crewe.
We could clean the entire cab, wet extraction in 35 minutes and onto the next one. I think we would get about 25 per weekend but the minute they were finished the seat were bagged and they were out on the road, with the seats still damp.

£10 per unit. I do them fortnightly. I know of some who charge £5 a unit, they do them weekly. Its a bit of a minefield really. There are plenty of companies that provide more specialised cleaning equiptment like portable roller washers for bigger fleets, say 40 or more trucks they can do on a site in a day.

Mike what system do you have mate? I do a lot of pressure washing ATM but I'm buying a brodex system and need to know if I can fit an extra outlet on the tank for the pressure washer, or put a tee piece in somewhere to get water for it?
Cheers
Danny

Mines home made Danny. When or if i need onboard water for my washers i just pop a Hozelock fourway manifold on and then my tank will feed the washers.
My tank outlet leading to my pump is fitted with a hozelock to plug into the pump so i just unplug that if that makes sense ?

Perfectly clear mate, cheers. I asked on the WC section and smudger has come back with a decent reply so my worries are solved

What about unit and box trailer £30? They have 3 of them but no water on site.

£30 each you mean ?
I'd no idea how many litres i actually used, as as i said i use their tap. But i got another 3 trucks to do in the same Industrial complex last week. So i got to find out. The three units where filthy , no idea when they where last done, i almost emptied 350 litres on them, thats without trailers.

I've a couple of questions. Couldn't find your email.
[1] Have you found a way to clean them without using a brush?
[2] Have you tried that Carnet Jumbo Foaming Truckwash ?
