Title: Advice required
Post by: Stephen.C on September 13, 2014, 08:17:56 am
I have a pro 6 system fitted that runs of my van battery. The problem is when i'm doing compact work and moving the van a couple of time I keep running the risk of a flat battery. Thinking of taking the pump and the fill solenoid off the van battery and fitting a split charger with leisure battery. How many amps per hour do I need? I pump water for around 6 hours a day. Thanks

Why not just buy 2 spare batteries from Noons, and a charger, and run it off them?

I had a spaire battery in the back wich was charged off a split relay and i much prefer to just take the batt out once every 2 days and trickle charge.

I only use second hand batt's from scrapyard, my latest one has lasted about 6 month and only £15.00. Next time im buying 2 just to alternate now and again.

Thanks Martin, I got away with it on my old van as it had a double battery system and a 12 volt system fitted

My spare battery is 115ah and is charged via a split charge relay like this one:

Great piece of kit, though it costs about £180 if I remember, in 8 months the battery never runs down.

I had a split charge fitted & a 110ah battery but still found occasions when my battery was dying as my work was very compact. I got a 15w solar panel & charger kit off ebay for about £60 and hooked that up too, never had a problem again!

A good leisure battery should last all week,  I did 2 big weeks and my leisure battery has just gone flat on the last house today.

I just take it out and charge it in the house for all of tonight, ready for next week.
