Hi guys - an unusual problem for you:
I've just been asked to wash the fire escape stairs on a building I manage,.. the stairs have always been a bit dirty & sticky but its not my area so I never paid attention to it before & assumed it was grease & general dirt buildup.
Today I started cleaning & discovered that the floor paint on the stairs was the issue,.. it was coming up on the mop! The paint is there 6 or 7 years (I've been managing the place for 4 yrs), and it seems it never properly dried/cured from day one.
The paint isn't coming up enough that I could just wash it off - its still leaving a thick sticky residue - so I'm looking for solutions.
Is there:
An activator that can be sprayed on to cure the paint (I don't know what type/brand of floor paint was used)
or
A paint stripper which works on floor paint & could be put through a scrubbing machine & wet vac?
or
Any other clever ideas you have to make this job a little less of a nightmare!
Thanks in advance!

just a thought but has someone used security paint on the stairs by mistake ? or even deliberately, this type of paint never cures.
