Doesnt seem that dear to me, cetrainly if it is from a garage. I have looked at connects for sale a few times, thinking that i might replace mine with another newer one. What i find is that prices can vary quite a lot, but i doubt you would have much joy trying to get an '09 for £4-4.5k unless private and higher miles. Of course that doesnt mean you wouldnt be able to knock the seller down a bit, just dont be to ambitious!, maybe £5.5k?.

To put this into perspective Jennings Ford have a 2009 plate T230 with 50k on the clock for £6999.00 + VAT.
Their pricing will be at the top end of the market - a lot of their nearly new stuff is from Ford Direct and Jennings is owned by Ford themselves.
So if £5999.00 is not subject to VAT then that isn't far off its 'market' value - market value being driven by supply and demand.

i picked up a TRANSIT CONNECT T230 for £2,400 six months ago.its an 05 though with 99k on the clock.great van and easily handles a 500L tank.very happy with it.
6 grand for one 5 years newer with half the miles is not too bad mate.

I'll be selling my 57 T230 103k in 4 weeks. So good to see there achieving reasonable money.

i offered £5000, jennings keeping van at £6999. could get better for that price, lots of room in the back of the t230hat, the van has been there for 3 months, thats when the tax disc ran out. still on windscreen.

........ and don't forget that the VAT adds £1400 to the price of the van = £8400.00
Its the attention to detail that is lacking. Surely one of the salesmen should have seen that and removed it. Sometimes, shinny offices in the sales lot don't necessarily mean what they appear.
And yes, £8500 (you will have to tax it as well) is too expensive for a 5 year old van. They won't be looking for you as a customer as you aren't VAT registered. The £6999.00 sounds a better price for a VAT registered company and that's probably the only ones who will eventually buy it.
I bet Jennings will have at least £1500 across it.
