Jeez, it's never worth the hassle! So far behind and no sign of catching up. Countless calls of "Have you packed up window cleaning?" new jobs phoning every day getting snotty when I tell them I can't possibly take more on.
Rant over. Off to work again.

How long did you go for?

It's a good problem to have though.
I just make sure I'm bang up to date before I go on holiday.
Even if it's blowing a gale and snowing I'll go out just so I can enjoy my holiday more. Nothing worse than going away and knowing your already behind.
-
Count yourself lucky, its a nice problem to have!
-
When I have a holiday , i change my voicemail message stating I'm on annual leave and usually make the date I'm returning to work a week after I return from holiday. this gives me a little time to catch up on overdue work and prioritise jobs without the added pressure of new enquiries, if new customers want me they will wait.
-
Iv just spent 3 months on the sick, every clean I'm doing now is like a first clean and my god what's
with all the spiders and webs this year, had to cut my way through some of them to get at the glass.
My customers have been fairly loyal have only lost 3 so far but I'm still way behind so might lose a few more.
To be honest it was working long hours and no holidays that's now coming back to haunt me.
Take your holidays and dump the customers who think you have quit because your a couple of weeks late.
-
take your holidays and enjoy them and take a few days off(or a week)at the end of your working month.this is what i do dave.i still earn plenty and stops me getting too tired of window cleaning.
if you have too much work.just sell a bit on.thats what ive done in the past mate.you dont have to be a slave to this business unless you ve got a lot of debts or a big family/morgage to pay for. :)

It just happened. Next year I am doing some F1 GP was hoping for this year. I have booked a 3 day break with the missus. Hot tub and champers every night. Loverrrrly. That will be first one in 8 years. Eek.
-
i have at least 3 holidays a year! a week or 2 in the sun abroad and a few dirty weekends away with the girlfriend! ;)
im planning on longer holidays in the future to australia and new zealand although not for a few years as my girlfriend cant take more than a week off at a time at present.
i spent many years without holidays in my 20s as i couldnt afford it,a few in my 30s.now im in my early 40s i realise that working all the time without a break in not good for my health.
when your lying on your deathbed you wont be thinking "i wish id done another day at work" thats for sure.
-
Dazmond - do you have a family to provide for? Maybe a mortgage?
Just wondering like.
-
Book your holidays in at the start of the year. Spread them out over the 12 months. This way, you plan to work around them and it minimises the stress of both work, and taking a break.
I had two weeks in Greece in August and will take a week in October then run on until Christmas eve.

-
Ah right. You see if I decided I wasn't going to work every month for a week I don't think my Mrs would be too impressed ;D

+1 without the nearly died bit, was off for a year. Live to work or work to live. I don't mind working at the weekend but I will make up for it soon after.
