The simpler the better, make it as large as possible and make sure your phone number stands out, but make sure it is a landline number and not just a mobile, then people know what area you are from.

For some reason mobiles are always associated with dodgy dealers, a landline instills confidence and credibility.  the same with 0800 numbers they are associated with national companies and are percieved as impersonal.

Gaz - I like your logo, very good.

I have my home phone No. clearly marked on my van, and my mobile.
If they ring my home phone and no-one answers, the answer message gives them my mobile No.
It works good.  Some don't like talking to answer phones so they ring my mobile.

But, sadly so far...No-one has phoned from my van writing.  I think Van signs are mainly subliminal.  They give you an identity, make you look like a legit business, but that is about it.
Mind you, once you' ve spent out on van signs, from then on free advertising, wherever you are.  So, not a waste of money if you can afford it, better than the unmarked..."White van man".

Okay I may have been somewhat hasty in what I said last night :-[ , I think I was just getting onto my second bottle of Shiraz.  Apologies to those, they all look good.

I've tried posting a picture of one of our vans but I must be doing something wrong, can somebody explain how to do it.

Cheers

Hi Callum, yes theres a water system in the back. Had this motor for 3 years now it was purchased for two reasons the first was i can carry 5 adults inside and my escort van could only carry two so it was only ever any good as a working vehicle. And secondly because of its carrying ability 1200kg and the van was only 500kg. Now i have the best of both worlds a great car for the family and a fantastic workhorse that shoud last me for years. And on the price you said of 150 for your signwriting that sounds about cock on.

Have you got a picture of the set up in the back of your pickup?

Hi , it,s becoming more common to just put a mobile on as people come to realise they can reach you that way.
I put mobile and landline on
(theres no real extra cost when your getting the van signed anyway)
and they can decide themselfs which way they want to contact you.

Don't apologise lionheart, apart from gaz they all posted after your comment. Did make me laugh though.0

I totally agree with what you say. I get at least 10 messages left on my BT line for every call i get off a customer to my mobile.

As domestic cleaning is very much a trust business i think its best to give the customer as much info as possible, without detracting from the advert.

Where are the pics then of this "better" technique then? I'm happy with mine and won't be adding anything else to it, less is more in signwritting. You do see some vans with so mch crammed onto them that you cannot take it all in, or cannot read it as the print is so small!!
I thought there would be more pics on here though- doesn't anyone bother with signwritting anymore, or is everyone running around in a estate?!!! ::)

when i firs started 11 years ago i hade my van done with magnets , i left the magnets on all the time ,and when i took them of they took the paint off as well.
so my next van i had painted , the trouble is when i came to sell it well you dont get what they are worth.
now i have got another van and this one as you can see from my earlier post has got vinyl stickers on , all of these vans were done by the same signrighter, who has moved with the times like i have.

i would never use magnets again and i would never have a van painted again esspesially not a new one. roll on the next invention.

Hi  Gaz and Rich, i was trying to point out the difference in skill involved applying letters or signwriting, I have not put a pic on as A: i dont know how to and B: it smacks of look at my van with its signwriting  i try to be modest. Rich my total cost of wfp system was £1.8K thanx to this forum that includes 3 poles and 650 litre tank if you guys dont live too far i could bring van to u if youre that intrested. Gaz do you sell the salmon brushes im intrested in ?

if you have a digital camera take some photos load them on your computer then click on additional options,
as "Bodge job Rich" says  ;D it would be good to see sign writing done the old way,
and i`ll email you with brush details,Gaz  ;)

Forgot to say with regards to the rear vinyl, maybe i should charge ionics for advertising space! I got the nod for the reach & wash logo, the pic i scanned in, but i'm sure there is no issue there, as when i upgrade to a bigger system, ionics will get the business anyway!
I'm not into self building as i haven't got time. Fairplay to those who have save themselves £££'s doing their own.

I had some vinyl signs done a couple of weeks ago - both sides for £40. Just 'Window Cleaning' and my mobile phone number (haven't got a landline).

So far I've had one phone call and one person leapt in front of me in a car park.
