Title: Pub Carpets

Morning all,

I need some advice on how to clean a pub carpet!!!
It is the usual type of wool carpet they use in pubs, plenty of seams right in the middle or the room.
It has gone hard near the bar and entrance to the restaurant with grease and lager, this is no problem.
The main problem is how to stop the seams from splitting, as even the smallest amount of moisture seems to affect this.
Any help would be most welcome.

Hi Darren

I've done these sort of jobs many times and one thing you can do is to pre warn the customer about splitting of seams and ask them to sign a disclaimer, the other is to get them re seamed prior to cleaning so that the seams are good.
Many years ago i bought a heat seaming iron for just this and they're about £100 , i found that i could then do jobs other cleaners were afraid to do and i charged for it., otherwise i'm sure the customer has a carpet fitter that drinks in their pub who can do it for them.

i did a carpet with split seams in long island and it was also a black top cleaned it easily with the rdm and the seams did not move. perhaps you should borrow one from hydramaster to do the job.
