Ok I've decided I'm going to get the clx 22 https://www.gardinerpolesystems.co.uk/acatalog/CL-X-Carbon-Composite-Pole-CLX_22.html
I'm going to be using it for cleaning g/s/f and conservatories. However being completely new to WFP all the different options are confusing me. Which ones should I be choosing.
Choose QuicK-LoQ Gooseneck
Choose QuicK-LoQ Brush
Wide Fanjets Fitted to QuicK-LoQ Brush instead of Pencil Jets
Choose Pole Hose
Choose Pole Hose Connector Type (think I want hozelock for this one)
-
I would forget the clx and pay the extra for a
slx 22
free resi neck
supa ligh medium mixed
pencil jets
yellow hoze

Thanks for the reply Paul, appreciated. Why do you say get the slx? What the difference between the 2 other than price? Is the slx lighter. Cheers again
-
slx is lighter and more rigid, the extra rigidity comes in handly for windows above conservatories, removing bird/bee crap and trying to close open windows.

Get the white sill brush fitted with fan jets if it's for plastics. Reason I say white is when a bristle comes off and gets stuck in a gutter bracket, you won't see it ;)
I'd go for the CLX for the work you will be using it for. Get EZ-snap female connector fitted to the pole hose, also get extra pole hose (a decent amount so you can get round connys etc) and one of these if you're hooking up to custys water http://www.gardinerpolesystems.co.uk/acatalog/adapter-to-useez-snap-end-stop-hose-a-standard-fitment-pole-hose.html
Then Bob's yer uncle :D

I'm nothing at the moment lol. No I'm a pressure washer by trade but it goes quiet for me over winter so I'm looking to clean gutters, facias and soffits ideally by water fed pole. I've also cleaned a couple of conservatories so just trying to learn as much as I can. I very much doubt I'll clean windows full time but just trying to learn so when I clean conservatories roofs I can do their conny windows as well. I won't be using pure water. I know that if the roofs are clear glass they will need sqeegeeing of if using tap water

Hozelock (probably as this will allow you to plug into a standard hose reel)

my first pole was clx22 and i cant rate them highly enough, sure the slx is better being full carbon but if your just starting out and moneys tight than clx all the way, i got the medium mixed superlight and pencil jets.
ive found for the fanjets to do a decent job you need a higher flow rate.
i now use slx22 with a extreme brush and a swivel neck as my everyday combo.

Conservatorys, facias and gutters are basically summer jobs aswell to be honest.
I dont get many in winter time

Yeah thought that may be the case but as I'm looking to clean out gutters may be able to get some work combining the 2 maybe plus also will be another string to my bow next year.

Swivel neck is a must for me. clx 22 and 27 are good value. I've shelved my slx as I haven't got round to replacing the old clamps

Why is the swivel neck a must Alan. Is it hard to use?
Cheers

i agree after using one ive never gone back, good for when you cant clean the windows square on, you can tilt brush head slightly and other situations like tight space between walls etc!
-
You wont want a swivel neck if its for gutters and fascias
For windows then yeah, i'd get the standard resi neck for now and get used to cleaning the Upvc first mate
Get a sill brush with wide fans as well
Pretty much get what mr gardiner (the bloke who sells the stuff) has already poted above. If you're just getting started its pretty much all you'll need, you can get the adaptors and other necks later when you're used to it all

The next post summed up the reason for swivel neck.

The clx 22 wont be long enough for fascia and soffits even on a 2 storey property it wont
reach the top of the gables.
I would recommend a SLX30 for fascia and soffit work.
-
I use a clx 27 for all my residential work, connys and UPVC cleans... I love it! Next time i will get a slx 25 just for the weigh difference
-
Thanks for letting me know.
Clx 27 then drop two sections when you don't need em.
Fan jets is a must. Helps with cleaning.
Goes for hozelock fittings as it will be easier for you to use customers tap.
Alex has mentioned everything else.
People will have work done all year round. Just gotta knock or leaflet.

Not saying your wrong as I've not used one and I'm new to WFP however I've got a cheap 18ft WFP which I got from amazon and that reaches my gutters. I'm guessing your average 2 storey house is 6 metres high and that is 19ft, still leaving another 3ft available. Like I said I'm not saying your wrong I'm just after clarification as money is tight and I can only just stretch to the clx 22 so don't want to spend the money on it if it's not going to reach
-
You need a 25/30ft pole if the house had gabels. I usually flick over these anyway lol
-
Something like this is invaluable for cleaning the fascia's (the difficult to reach bit between the gutter and fascia).
(http://i1164.photobucket.com/albums/q572/Gramthy/SoffitBrush_zps174cfdfd.jpg) (http://s1164.photobucket.com/user/Gramthy/media/SoffitBrush_zps174cfdfd.jpg.html)
Makes the job a lot easier. You'll need to drill the hole for the hose yourself.
Cheap as chips from Wilko's or Home Bargains fits Gardiner's resi necks.
-
what sean means is if you have a gable end s/f/g job the apex will be too high for you to reach with a 22 footer on some properties.ive had a clx.they are a good budget pole.bendy at full stretch though compared to an extreme.

Yes your 18ft will reach along the sides o.k. (front and back) if you don't have a conservatory or extension.
But it wont reach the top of the gables on most 2 storey properties.
Then you will have properties with a garage below the gables these again will need the 30 footer.(if you don't want to be working
while standing on a sloping garage roof)
I have cleaned many 2 storey properties where it took the 30ft pole to complete them and I have also cleaned properties
where my 18 footer done the job.
At the end of the day you could get the CLX22 and if you find it doesn't do the job buy another section to make it longer.
But for the sake of your joints I would still recommend a SLX or better for anything above 22ft.

Cheers guys I think this is probably the route I'm going to go down

Depends on your own physical condition but a clx27 will do the job
which is around two thirds carbon, you can always take a section off
or two as needed and get the appropriate end caps.
I intended to do this myself but I find the pole light so use the pole as
a 27footer all the time.

Gary is used to carrying his rather large mobile phone around with him
Though so his arms were prepared for the 27footer

Just used to physical work matey ;)
If like H20 you look and are built like olive oyl then buy a much lighter pole ;D
-
I too am used to physical work being an ex miner n all.
You don't need to be big strong or fit to use a pole though.
However it is repetitive, now some people will suffer very little if at all from repetitive strain injuries and some will suffer a lot.
What you dont want to do is find out the hard way cos once you have an rsi try getting shut of it.
Therefore buy the lightest easiest to use pole you can find and dont scrimp and save in this area.
Diy your system and buy an extreme from Mr Gardiner.
Oh and as an upside your hourly rate will go up too ;D
-
Nearly made a huge error, me being a tight arse saw a 10% code for gardiners pole. Thought right that's my cue to buy only at the last minute did I see it was the US site lol phew

Ex miner you lot were always on strike, you might of aswell said you were a ex council
worker ;D
I can honestly say I find the clx that light it feels like im klifting absolutely nothing
but weight has little to do with repetitive strain injury.
If I was prone to rsi I would get it no matter what pole I used
-
You'd be more likely to get it with a heavy or flexy pole
-
If you are prone to rsi you could use a pole half the weight of the extreme
and the repetitive nature of the work would still nail you, typists get it and people
who click on a mouse all day are prone to it and carry no weight.
Your own physical condition or the lack of it will have a greater effect on you
getting rsi, strengthening your core your posture and how you use the weapon of
your choice when working are bigger considerations than the incremental difference
in pole weights.
Obviously if you are using a 25ft universal pole all day everyday you are going
to end up shattered ;D but some physical extertion is good for you.

Point is you don't know if your going to get rsi till its too late.
So why not edge your bets and buy the equipment that'll put least strain on your body?
I'm as tight as they come and look on flabbergasted when folk spend thousands on a tank and pump.
I had the same attitude to poles so I made my own to start with then in unlikely move I spent some money on an slx.
Best thing I ever did window cleaning wise and if I was full time I'd have an extreme.
It'd be a no brainer

Dg to certain extent I agree with you but the weight difference between slx
and extreme we are talking about grams not pounds in weight and the tiny difference
would have no bearing on rsi injury due to the repetitive nature of this job.
But I take on your opinion even though I disagree with it ;D
