Title: dead flies
Post by: brynley on September 03, 2014, 05:39:01 pm
I clean a car showroom where there is a on going dead fly problem on the upper window ledges and heaters (25ft  to the ledge), I clean the windows with a trad pole for health and safety reasons, the owner asked me earlier in the year if I would clear the flies off the ledges and I said I would try, the problem is that the angle is difficult to get along the ledge with a cloth on the end of the pole.

last week he rang me up and had a go at me for not clearing the flies and that i should do it off a ladder, I reminded him of health and safety (he has a step/ ladder health and safety poster in the staff room) I reminded him that I was a window cleaner and not a fly remover and I was trying to do it as a favour to him, he tells me as a professional I should clear the debrie off the ledges with a cloth on the end of my pole, I told him the problem with that and suggested that he would be better off being able to hoover them off and after he said it wasn't an option to get a hoover 25ft in the air, I told him that if he had a suitable hoover he could  possible buy attachments to enable high level cleaning.

usually when he wants something he tells me i'm the best window cleaner in Hertfordshire, but i'm annoyed with him, I clean 3 of his 6 show rooms, part of the problem is he has i'm told ocd and can spot dirt a mile off.

am I right to be annoyed with him and is he expecting to much

I can see why your annoyed because im sure you do a decent job every time and some people just want more!
However if its worth while and a good payer it might be worth buying some kindof gooseneck to get at the ledge

Feather duster bent at 90 degrees cable tied or attached to the end of a pole.

Or something similar.

TBH, you are making a problem out of nothing.

You got access to a gutter vac to clear up, then just a wipe to finish using the extension pole.
