Title: daft question storage of used cloths in an office clean

hi all
My biz partner just asked me about storage of cloths at our new office job.
Just wondered what you guys did.
When you have used a cloth, how do you store it to use the next day if it is still damp?
We dont want to leave wet cloths lurking about. but they dont really want washing every night either do they.
Is it best to get a plastic cabinet or something to keep the colours all separate?
any thoughts?  :-\

Hi Lisa,

we wash our cloths after each use as they can breed germs and mould etc if left laying about. We have a very large supply of microfibre colour coded cloths so that we do not run out.

Hi Lisa

You guys could either use J-Cloths....colour coded of course  ::) and dispose of them at the end of that shift / day.......or bag your cloths up and take them home and store them in a container and wash them every 2nd or 3rd day.....if you wanted to!! But as Derek stated, you may want to consider the breeding of germs etc and their smells. However, if they were stored in a container, you would want a lid and to thoroughly sanitize it when emptied.  ;)

Are we talking wasrooms here? If so, I never leave a cloth for use next day (actually I use tea towels because they leave a more streak-free finish).

What I do is, with the same cloth,  mirrors - basins - toilets - DEAD! Back in the wash.

I'm sure we all have our own ways though :)

errr thats gross same cloth on basin and around toilet, im a bacteria freak sorry, i wont use one cloth for 2 things never  :P they should have feel sick smilie up there.

I think you could be taking it a little far...contaminating a toilet with a cloth because you have wiped a hand basin around with it? Well, in an exclusion zone for raging Ebola virus with added Anthrax maybe you have a point, but not with your average washroom!

Now if you did the toilet first then that's an entirely different matter...

As I say though, each to his own.

Hi Lisa,

Every clean i do daily i always take the used cloths/dusters etc home and wash thoroughly except for the veyr dirt cheap cloths which i just throw away.

From my health and hygiene training when i worked in the hotel as a chambermaid, i have always carried it on in my domestic cleaning especially regarding the bathrom and toilets etc. Keep all cloths separate and the toilet never ever has any other cloth used on it and then used elsewhere !!! a very big no-no!!

I did my first ever quote last Friday for a small office clean, their current cleaner is given 2 hours to clean and thye have found that she sneaks off after 30mins and her cleaning standards are appalling, dirt on stairs, dust everywhere and dirty toilets! Hope i get it!

I have come to the conclusion that the cleaning kit will stay at the office, but after each visit the cloths wil be taken home to wash. Now i hope the cleaners i might get in the future remember to do that too.
Thanks for your advise. I'm terrible when it comes to cloths and locations, makes me feel sick  ;D ???

Hi Tim!

I very much doubt it she is one of your ladies, i think so i have been told she has been cleaning this certain office since late 90's and literally just pleases herself what amount of cleaning is done, she is a keyholder and cleans while the office is empty and i suppose she thinks she has got away with it for so long and just continued,,,,,

It has been 10 days since i went to quote and i was told that they will say yes or no by Good Friday,,,,,,,,i strongly suspect they do not like the idea of paying double what thye normally pay to their current cleaner. But if you pay peanuts you get the monkey!
