Title: dog oil smell has got me beat!!
Post by: Frank pole on August 14, 2014, 01:35:18 pm

done my brothers rugs a couple of days ago, I clean them every 6 months or so:

He has a couple of German shepherds who spend their life on these 2 rugs - The dog oil smell is Heavy!!

This is how ive always cleaned them:

Pre spray enzal powerburst mix leave 15min
Hwe rinse clean tap hot water
spray with acid rinse
Hwe re rinse with clean tap hot water with chemspec odour plus - Job Done!

Ive come back round here 2 days later and they absolutely stink as if I never cleaned them! and the dogs have not laid on them since I cleaned them!

I use stapro sta kill on my most severe jobs but they are always commercials - surgery's and rest homes, never domestics as its one of the most potent things I have ever smelt - ( similar to deep heat muscle rub)

Is there something a bit more subtle available??

We do the following for this type of job:

After prevac:

Pre spray with prochem microsan leave for 5-10 mins extract with prochem f&f rinse in tank ( very mild) hot water of course.

Then start over with our usual prespray which is prespray gold (wool) or powerburst (synth) with some cleansmart orange x

Extract out again.

Usually works for us.

You'll need a hose pipe with that one. Keep on flushing it through. Before you do that!! Do this: strong dose of Hot enzall applied and left for 30 minutes.

Drying it will be the issue.

Err, yes you can, and without bleach. As posted by Carpet Dawg, loads of flushing & then a rug shampoo. More flushing & dry. Job done.
