Just be interested to know what you guys and gals do to keep custys and keep them happy?
I've had a few leave recently, mainly because I wasn't doing it on a regular day of the month which is something I didn't think of when I started up, but it seems to be important to them, especially the older generation.
What also helps keep them happy in people's experiences?
Cheers.

I've been in business for 23 years. In my opinion the secret to our sort of business is to get the customers to like you. I don't mean taking them flowers and sending birthday cards but just by being cheerful and sharing a laugh with them now and again. Obviously quality and consistency in your work is important as is a reasonable price but in my experience if the customer actually likes you they'll be less likely to get rid of you.

I think you shouldn't worry. Set your stall out and people either like it or they don't. I suspect saying that your visit needs to be a particular day is an easy excuse. They just didn't want a regular windie/you/ your standard of clean/whatever. You'll never know which it is and as long as you have customers coming in it doesn't matter.

us English are never happy so don't worry about it

I clean their windows at roughly the approximate time-scale and don't burgle them. I smile and I'm polite and there's never any 'fuss'. It's very simple really and it seems to keep the majority of them happy.
I like customers who just see me as 'another necessary evil' and treat me like another bill they have to pay. I don't want to be their friend, their counsellor, or anything other than their 'no fuss window cleaner'.
But some customers will use any excuse to drop us when they can't afford it or would rather spend their limited funds on something else.

Totally agree with you, many seemed amazed and refused to believe me when I said that I only lose 2 or 3 customers a year. But it is absolutely true, in fact I can't remember the last time I lost a customer! And I put it down to the fact that my customers genuinely like me.

You must have a totally different personality in real life then. :D

If you are trying to turn up on the same day every month then you need to stop that right away because its going to be near in possible due to the weather specially in winter. It will cause you no end of trouble specially when something happens to your van and its off the road for a couple of days your compete month will be knocked out.
Customers are stupid and often ask will it be the same day every month or the same date ::)roll
