Title: Gardiner pole Clamp
Post by: Jamie Thomas on August 08, 2014, 01:37:09 pm
Iv got a slx 22 and the bottom clamp has come unglued what is the best type of glue for re glueing. Also i did a window clean yesterday after the builders had been there and got all sandy crap on the pole and it was grating like a good en so i washed it off flushed it out and gave the full length of pole a spray with WD40 would that have caused the glue on the clamp to fail or was that just a coincidence.

Not sure on the best glue to fix your clamp but I wouldn't spray the pole with WD40 is it
any wonder the sand was sticking to it.
Wash your pole with water, dry it and give it a polish with silky caravan cleaner.

We find the best glue for this job is this - http://www.gardinerpolesystems.co.uk/acatalog/Hi-Strength-Acrylic-Glue-Two-Pack-Rapid-Adhesive-BLACK_GLUE_10ML.html this is because it has a high strength coupled with slight flexibility to allow for the slight flex that can occur on the carbon sections when under strain. Downside is that it comes in a single use pouch.

However any two-pack epoxy would also do the job such as Araldite Rapid or similar - http://www.screwfix.com/p/evo-stik-epoxy-rapid-2-x-15ml/76199
