I'm not using cleaner planner, Richy.
But GoCardLess is the best move I have ever made in business.
I set all GCL customers to pay 1st of the month.
A pretty handsome chunk of the round goes in on the 4th of each month. No ag whatsoever!

I am using Cleaner Planner and today sent my first invoices out using the email facility. It think that function alone will save me 3 - 4 hours work each month due to the fact it has all the information required so I don't have to pull details from elsewhere. it really is so simple. It took me 20 minutes to get my head around how it works but if a tech idiot like me can do it then anyone can.

I think Cleaner Planner is the best thing to hit my business since George 8 years ago. George was good in its days but this is seriously better.

Not sure what I pay of the top of my head, but Its not a lot considering how much its improved how we work.
Waiting for 3 new tablets to arrive anyday as the first ones I got although good had an older operating software so they went back.

Once we have those running I am keen to move onto using some of the other features such as Go cardless. Really like the look of that, my outstanding debt list can hit 17k sometimes so anything to improve that will be a big help.

Go Cardless option is very easy to use once its been set up via CP. Once you have a customer sign up to pay you and his/her email address is in CP you only need to synchronise via settings or click on manual charge on debt list.

Any work your guys do, can be tracked quite easily via worksheet assign option and transactions screen.

CP is by far the easiest to use.

Time wise it saves me anything between 8-10 hours of admin work a month.

£25 / month pro package will get you going.

Been using CP for a few months now, great bit of kit.

Invoicing is simple now, few clicks and it's gone, love it.

The app is great, no more trawling through paper.

Rob has implemented loads of clever touches following feedback, so is very hands on and open to ideas to help YOUR business run how YOU want it.

The fact it's cloud based meant I could access it when we were on holiday to ensure everything ran smoothly in my absence.

Go for it.

Text messaging from the debt list is a big plus for giving late payers a nudge  ;)

I have just completed free trial and i signed up. I really am a die hard Window Cleaner Pro fan, took me alot to move over but Rob has catered for my every need. I seem to work in a different way to others with arranging work due etc. Spoke for to Rob about this and we spoke for a while on different options.

Invoicing emails...wow what a time saver! Before i used to make the invoice in pdf format, save it, open up outlook expres, find address etc etc...you get the picture. Now its just a click of the button  :)

For me one of the biggest sellers was the mobile app, works perfect, syncs via wifi...or 3g. Superb. No more headaches at night. And now completely paperless. Worth it, go for it!

I trialled it for a couple of weeks and thought it very good , with lots of great features. But I couldn't justify ditching wcp and paying £15 per month forever for just the basic package! Really overpriced in my opinion but if people are prepared to pay it then the very best of good fortune to them.

Cleaner Planner is denifinately a huge leap forward. Although i will admit that I worried about it for weeks and slowly decided to go for it and i am so glad i did.

It is the difference between pen and paper and a computer , between walking and driving etc.... it was one of the best things i have done for my business in recent years. It enables me to run my business in an effective, time efficent and dynamic way. Rob the programmer is also fantastic and is always onhand for support and he listens to your ideas and implements them...... try it out, you wont look back.

Cleaner Planner is a fab bit of software created by window cleaners and constantly being developed by Rob, he makes changes quickly and another great thing, apart from go cardless integration, bulk email and everything else, you can export any part of your information to excel at the touch of a button, and you can backup all of the info to dropbox at the touch of a button too, so yes its backed up on the cloud and I am sure Rob will be around longterm, BUT if this worries you - you can simply back up to excel or in its entirity to dropbox - he has also put in a flat rate vat option for those windows cleaners on this vat method so your accounts are accurate too.

Its a brilliant piece of software that we would not be without now. Well done Rob.

been on it from beginning and jumped straight in off aworka despite some less available features at the time
i felt rob was going to deliver a killer app and he did.

fantastic addition to the business.

preclean texts ,some days we do 50 a day = 2 clicks and done :)
chase debts = select offenders and text all in one go :)
gocardless integration  :)
new add customer button is fantastic   :)

it is really quite simply brilliant and a massive  leap forward in customer management.

one thing i would like added and will now mail rob is an integrated calendar for quotes, etc with multiple calendar user id's.
currently using another calendar to organise quotes and one offs but really need to integrate the 2 now

if you are not on it , get on it .
it will seriously save you time and money

Hi carl, as you know we have been involved since day one, and not sure if this would work for you, but we simply added a round in and called it quote and we also have around call one off window cleans - then we simply book the jobs/quotes as normal and then when I print out the worksheets/tablet - I do them the night before usually "due tomorrow" and sort by round and hey presto Daz gets a worksheet with quotes all due that day - would that not work for you?

Ive been using george for about ten years and could seen no reason to pay £180 a year to do the same as george but eith different software,  I gave cleaner planner a go because of the free trial and have just signed up and will no longer use george from the end of the month.
I had a lot of reservations about cleaner planner but rob answered all of my questions and put my mind at rest. At the moment george suits my requirments but I can see a point when it wont, but cleaner planner exceeds my current needs and will meet my future needs.
Im surprised that ive signed up as im a typically tight window cleaner but its good enough for me to spend the money.

It's not actually £15 per month

It's more like £15 - 22% as it's tax deductible

So actually £11.70

Not tried it yet, but will do in the near future, as I will with Go Cardless, it sounds great.

I Have had a play around with it and just cant get my head round it , I use Aworka and the sheer simplicity of marking off jobs and payment method used  and moving them around with drag and drop if needed plus bulk moving a whole days work forward with 2 clicks if needed .

And the support from Chris if and when i have messed up an invoice or something is first class it is usually sorted ASAP so cant fault it all . Mike

Thanks for all the great comments guys - really pleased all the tweaking and improving based on your feedback is starting to make a big difference :)

RE drag and drop on the planner - I've been mulling this over for a long time now. In my experience, it tends to be something people coming from Aworka think they need (understandably because they're used to it), but actually when they get up and running with proper worksheets (which give you get day-to-day flexibility without making permanent changes to your schedule), and use the bulk edit tools to get their schedules properly sorted once and for all, they find they don't need it after all.

I'm yet to have someone trial CP from Aworka, give it a proper go and then drop out because the planner doesn't have drag and drop. And as I always say to people, if a feature is going to make the difference between you signing up or not (once you've given it a proper go and tried the CP way of working) then I will add it, but noone's ever pushed me on it. If they did, I'd add it :)

To be honest it would be relatively straightforward to implement, but personally I've always thought it encourages you to be a bit hap-hazard with your scheduling, and there's potential to get in a real mess. One user who came over from Aworka said he was actually fed up with the drag and drop, particularly on the iPad where he was forever accidentally moving jobs around when all he wanted to was scroll the screen! Anecdotal, and maybe partly user error, but I just feel like it's one of those things that sounds cool but ain't that practical in reality.

Worth mentioning as well in Cleaner Planner you have all the capability of drag and drop, you can move a whole day's work +/- a number of days, you just do it by selecting the day, round or individual jobs and clicking "Change due". You can also reorder a round or worksheet by clicking "Reorder" and then you get a window where you can drag and drop the addresses in order. I'm more than happy to walk anyone through this who's struggling with it. As always just drop me an email rob@cleanerplanner.com.

Anyway, just my 2 cents based on experience so far! I'm always ready and willing to implement features people genuinely need and which will make CP a better product, so I look forward to further input on this :)

Carl @CWC - I remember you saying D&D was a must, do you still feel like you're missing it?

Paul

I think the way Smudger uses worksheets to book quotes is really smart, you have the added advantage then of being able to convert the quote to a job (rather than having to create it separately) when the worksheet comes in by changing status to "Active" and setting the schedule, or you can just mark it as "Done" so you have a record the quote was done but didn't convert to a customer this time. Nice thing then is you've still got the customer details in your database (under the "Customers" tab) where you can remarket to them later, e.g. via email, SMS or Mailchimp.

Paul - I like the idea of text reminders for timed quotes and this would be pretty straightforward to implement as we already have a text scheduling capability for customer job reminders. Also like Carl's idea of an appointment calendar, or integration into your calendar via iCal. Will give both some more thought once I've finished the update to the mobile app (feel free to keep nudging me ;))

richy on cp it really really simple to move someone to put them where you want on the worksheet - using the re-order button.
Title: Re: Hows everyone doing with cleaner planner
Post by: Rob @ Cleaner Planner on July 31, 2014, 11:32:36 am
Hi Richy, yes sorry, my rambling wasn't very clear on that point! Cleaner Planner does have drag and drop where most people find it genuinely useful - for reordering rounds and worksheets.

As Smudger said, you simply bring up the round or worksheet, click "Reorder" and a window appears with all the job addresses. Drag and drop them into order and click "Save". Very similar to WCP.

It doesn't change anything until you click save, so much less chance of accidentally messing up your round :)

Also (recently added feature) when viewing a specific round you can insert a job in a specific position by clicking the "+" icon next to the job you want to insert before (e.g. house next door).

Granville, I moved over from George.
I have been using George since the very early days, around 04 I think. I was really unsure about changing as had George down to a fine art.
I kept putting it off as was really worried it would mess up my business. In fact the opposite has happened, I picked it up much quicker than I expected and now love it. All my information from George is there but I can now do so much more.

Try it, you won't be disappointed.

I am one of those people that if something isn't working for me almost instantly and their is no general guides that I can go back and double check then I am out .

With greatest of respect I am sure Rob has done a great job but if it don't jump out it's no good to me .

As posted with Aworka I click on a job in the planner and my options are instantly displayed I mark it done and payment method made or not click save and next job loads up it could not be any easier .

I click on a job in the planner on cleaner planner I am redirected to another page to manage custys details no sign of marking job done or paid or invoice .

I don't want to have to spend time on the phone or emailing to work out how to work something that should be simple and straight forward and make my life easier . Mike

Thanks Michael - I had a good chat with Andy (earlier in the thread) yesterday about drag and drop (he emailed me asking if I was going to add it) and it seems the point is, with Aworka you need D&D to bunt your work around on the planner to get it to show up on the worksheet because it's essentially a report on what's due, rather than a list that you can add or remove jobs from directly.

With CP, you don't need to change a job's due date to get it to show up on a worksheet. You add it to a worksheet directly (from the planner, rounds or jobs page) because you know it needs doing, based on the due date yes, but potentially other factors as well - e.g. it might be a new or important job that you want to tack on to the end of today's round, or a bunch of jobs that (for whatever reason) you want to do early or catch up on because they're overdue.

It's a different way of working that some find preferable to the D&D planner style (once they've tried it for a few weeks) and some don't - it's a personal preference thing :)

Pure H20 - answers below ;)

Will CP work on a windows 8.1 tablet?

Web-based interface (full CP) yes. Mobile app no... although I'm not ruling out building a Windows version if the demand is there :)

Will i finish my work earlier today?

If you switch over to CP, yes ;) Joking aside, what software do you use currently? If you currently do all your end of day data entry manually from paper worksheets then using the CP app (on an Android or iPhone for now) will mean this is all done and dusted when you get in, just upload, submit and call the takeaway outlet of your choice (CP can't do that for you, yet ;))

Will i get a takeaway tonight?

See above.

I would definitely go iPad then - much quicker and slicker IMO.

iPad mini is a nice compromise if you go for the retina as it's got the same screen resolution as the full size iPad but in a more compact format so more practical while out and about.

You will need wifi or 3/4G to access the full web-based Cleaner Planner.

The mobile app works offline (you upload/download at start/end of day) so you don't need any signal while out and about.

I'm working on the mobile debt list now, been pushed back a bit as had to get some other updates out this week (including account backup tool) but I'm aiming for mid next week :)

No 3G no problem ;) You can sync over wifi at start and end of day.

I can import from George no probs. Just sign up for the trial (link in my sig) and email your backup to rob@cleanerplanner.com or send it via the secure contact form: https://www.cleanerplanner.com/contact

Hi Ben - I can import rounds, customers, jobs (in round order) and debts. See Neil's comments below :)

If you fancy giving it a try just sign up for the trial https://www.cleanerplanner.com/trial and email me your latest George backup rob@cleanerplanner.com

So if you are on George what can be transferred over painlessly?

Granville, I moved over from George.
I have been using George since the very early days, around 04 I think. I was really unsure about changing as had George down to a fine art.
I kept putting it off as was really worried it would mess up my business. In fact the opposite has happened, I picked it up much quicker than I expected and now love it. All my information from George is there but I can now do so much more.

Try it, you won't be disappointed.

Cheers Pure H20 - look forward to it :)

Sorry, no PayPal yet, but certainly something we could look at implementing if there was enough interest (which surprisingly, there hasn't been much of so far!)

Most of the interest so far has been around GoCardless for taking direct debit payments, which is directly integrated into Cleaner Planner.

You can kick off a GoCardless payment directly from the debts page and will soon be able to click one button on the worksheet to take all GC payments on the worksheet (after work done) in one swoop.

When the payment hits your bank account GoCardless automatically notifies Cleaner Planner and clears the payment - saves so much time and clicking around.

Potentially we could do a similar thing with PayPal if users needed it...

Hi Ben - I don't usually import expenses (most people have been happy to start with a clean slate) but if it's key for you then I can import them for you no problem :)

I was using excel mate and its so time consuming compared to cleaner planner. Cleaner planner is so much more user friendly and offers much more than excel, Id suggest getting the free trial and get rob to do your imports and have a play with it for a few days, get use to making worksheets etc, and then you'll understand what i mean about making everything more efficient for your business on the admin side of things.

ive been using cleaner planner for a little while now and at the beginning i too thought drag and drop was a necessary way of moving things about, but after using it now i much prefer it without the drag and drop feature. The integrated go cardless feature is just brilliant and has given me the incentive to really push this payment method too my customers. ive also used the texting feature many times for chasing up debts and for pushing other services and invoicing customers is a breeze through cleaner planner, topped with the mobile app and 1st class customer support from Rob cleaner planner really is a top notch piece of software.
Anyone who hasn't given the trial a go i would highly recommend you give it a go, its not to you really start using all the features do you then realise how much time it can save you.

Paul - yep, it's always worked on iOS (iPhone and iPad) as I recall you're using it on an iPad mini aren't you? Or are you using full web-based CP on there?

Ben - not sure on the battery life, I'll ask concept (earlier in the thread), he's been using Hudls for a while now. No, you don't need internet during the day for the mobile app (hence why cheap wifi only Android tablets are ideal for it :)). You download at start of day (over wifi) and upload at end of day. You don't even need an internet connection when you tap it from the home screen.

Sorry Paul! I must have forgot to mention it because you were on Android and I thought you were just going to use the iPad for the web version.

Anyhoo, the iOS app is currently a manual install (I'll email you instructions). I submitted it to the App Store earlier this week but it's awaiting approval. Consensus is this takes around 6-7 days so I'm expecting it to pop up in the App Store early this week. I'll let you know as soon as it's up.

Emailing you now :)

Hi Rick - you need to sign up for the free trial first to create your account and add some customers and worksheets for the app to download.

www.cleanerplanner.com/trial

Drop me an email once you've signed up and I'll walk you through the basics (if you need me to) and get you set up on the iOS app.

Noticed some good changes today like different colour overdue jobs red for overdue and not on a work sheet & grey for overdue and on worksheet, the little changes make all the difference

Go team cleaner planner  ;D ;D ;D

Cheers Paul :)

You've also got drag and drop on the planner now, bit more detail here:

http://www.cleanitup.co.uk/smf/index.php?topic=187972.msg1616876#msg1616876

And a demo here:

https://www.cleanerplanner.com/demos/planner/drag-and-drop

I've also added option to invoice weekly or monthly for jobs (i.e. only charge for 1st clean of week / month) - ideal for commercial jobs, had to get it in place ASAP for a commercial operator who's just come onboard :)

So more great tweaks - if Carlsberg made window cleaning software .... they would have done CP :)
