Hi,i do lots of work for a multi national company ,they have huge office areas.I have done nearly 9 grand this month alone.I priced a large area, its taken two weekends to complete,tm and rotary.Thing is i priced it high, quote was excepted, but i could probably knock something off the price and still make money, job is working out quicker than i taught.Like to hear other taughts on this?
-
'You quoted high and the client accepted'.
What makes you think that you quoted OTT? Are you saying this multi national is a fool for paying over the odds by going with you - or are you now having guilt feelings because the quality of what you have produced is below your expectations?
Just my "taughts" ;)
-
I agree, you price a low one and will they refund you some money?
I'd take it as a plus you never know!

Carpet had not been cleaned in years, needed two systems, its cleaning up great.Just my guilt that i am making to much to easy ;D
-
I doubt that they have the same thoughts about there profit margins,You priced the job the accepted end of story. :)
-
I don't understand the point in this thread?
You're saying you made a ridiculously good hourly rate then in the same breath saying, but it took us a TM and LM system over two weekends to make the money'. Like it was really hard work and cost! Which is it?
Surely the post should have read:
'Does anyone ever feel guilty or offer a discount if they feel they have charged higher than they should have after the work has been completed?'
-
Neil you put it better than i could. ;D
Trust me i have priced jobs before that have taken twice as long to do.Even do your dealing with large companies you still try to build a relationship with the person who you deal with.Would it make sense to offer some discount and keep them sweet.Trust me this is not a big problem to me,just interesting in others taughts on it. ;)

If you do a lot of work for this multi national then there obviously happy with the level of service and price, why rock the boat?
If someone has commented on your prices or how long it takes then maybe think again.
We're all in the business of making money ( them included).

If your worried the offer something that others dont. as you clearly know that your a commodity. you also know that the customer is in control. give the customer more than they expect. maybe follow up call in the winter for entrances within the price. how happy is a customer going to be seeing you regularly and how great it will be for you building that relationship. This should make you more secure.

I was having a chat with one of my local, very succesfull, customers. I said I used to hate it when I quoted for a job and they said is that all. His response........I never get that, its usually "really that much".
He's the one driving a new BMW 7 series and living in a £1m barn conversion.

I admire people like that the trick is how does he convert?

He's like Jamie, has the knowledge and confidence to convert the job. Doesn't just do carpets but windows and stone as well with staff.
-
If you really believe you are worth what you are asking it comes across and people have confidence in you.
-
Totally agree, just interested in others opinions.See i priced it to take 3 weekends,2 man job.But we knocked it out in 2 weekends .
-
Offer them a maintenance contract now and tell them that there is some
Labour in the pot already so you can do then a good price on regular visits and will throw in the left over labour on the last clean of a 2 year contract 😋
-
As we don't know what your rates are then for all we know you may have undercharged . Del

True, well i emailed invoice with original price during the week.Called today asking about chair cleaning, commented carpets looked great. :D
-
should had offered 10 % off for payment straight away
-
Never drop a price after a greed upon,
All my commercial quote state payment within 14 days
Never had a late payment
If they don't accept that then I don't do the jobs
Would rather stick to domestic and get paid on the day
