The thing I find with Yell is with the enquires they will just say they found you on the internet or Google or Yellow pages even if they found you on Yell. Yell come up on the top of the first page of Google a lot now, but a customer forgets they clicked on a Yell link and will just tell you they Googled it so it's hard to gauge how many jobs you get from it.

Just make sure your yell listing has A) a unique phone number which is usually provided by yell and B) your web link should go to a specific squeeze page or landing page which can the be easily analised. simple to trac your online data

i got a free listing on yell.com worth £2000 and got about 5 calls off it. the rest of the calls were cold calling sales calls.

in fairness to yell though, we are situated inbetween areas so it doesn't quite work for us.

ps... be careful they don't try and forge your signature and sign you up for £2000 worth of advertising. they may do this and then they will send you lots of final reminder letters while you're arguing that you didn't sign anything. low lifes.
personally, i wouldn't urinate on them if they were on fire but i am a bit biased against them. ;D

Stuart you're far too cynical, it's hot and I take a breather and think to myself what could bring me in me in more money but for less work Derek has a similar train of thought.

Look for gaps in you marketing funnel. its has more value to you. up-selling, recommendations.

For example do you write down information about your customers? like pets kids, and other areas so you can send messages that talk to that? being observant when in customers homes you can find opportunities. say your in cleaning carpets do they have leather or fabric sofas? do they have rugs? why are they not having all areas clean is it because they think they have to move everything? if so sell highlight cleans. people dont understand what this is so educating them can open doors.

That's a bit naughty of them to say the least Derek!!! I get reasonable results from yell.com. Enough to continue paying for the moment anyway. I suspect that will change in time though.
