I think it is illegal if they are nesting which they [robably still are. But I would refuse until the winter just in case. Legal or not.

Should I knock down house martin nests before they return next year?
You don’t need to remove a house martin nest because the martins will re-use it when they return next year. You can remove nests if you need to do maintenance work or painting, but it is illegal to do this whilst the birds are building or using them.

It's illegal to knock down those nests.
The ones your talking about are house Martyn's and them fly from Africa to the uk to build nests.
If you touch a nest wether active or not between the months of march and October you can be taken To court and fined up to £6000.
I only know because I asked the question before I took some nests down.
Just wait till winter then clear them away.

what benifits are these forign birds on . ;D
-
Whether it's legal or not, it'd be wrong. Just leave it till the winter.
-
Just say no as you done one before and got reported.

Agreed, i would refuse point blank, regardless of the legality. Today i was doing a house which had a nest literally right above a large window. When i put my brush on the glass a bird, presumably a parent, flew out, so i proceeded with extreme caution!

Cant believe how sad people are, they should feel priviliged
to have such a brilliant little bird like a house martin nesting
and poopting on their house ;D
They have two-three broods ;D normally all have fledged
by end of august, just tell the bint she will have to wait.
-
You'll be alright Eagles don't nest up in gable ends.
-
we had house martins inside our old farm house when doing it up (been empty years) the planning officer could of shut the job down and we would of had to stop and we couldn't of done a thing about it
however we left the windows out and just carried on they just did then same was good fun seeing the little babys stand outside the nest watching us build a house round them

True enough. I saw today on one of my custards houses three terracotta housemartin nests fixed to just under the rafters. Never seen them before where you can buy them. One was obviously being nested in.

It is amazing how people who have house Martin nests are always so keen to get rid, all of us who don't have them love em 😄
We have a customer who's got a starling nest in a bathroom extraction vent, information we found was no removal until after July 31 st
Might be later in the year for house martins but I never knock them off in summer, and if possible never at all. After all keep me in a job through the summer !

House Martins make a filthy mess.
So im not entirely surprised that some home owners want rid of the nests.

What about a pidgeons nest over a down pipe can I move it along to put mesh over downpipe prob got young in nest
-
We had one in our house abroad - I shot the pesky things and flushed the nest with a strong water jet.
poopting everywhere and swooping into the pool to catch flies - orrible little birds ;D
-
I told the women i didnt want a fine and more to the point i didnt want baby birds splattered on the roof tiles.... She agreed

Agreed. Leave them alone! >:(

Your pole won't do it. You need to get up a ladder and use a hammer
-
Hey! Cleaner! Leave those birds alone. :)
Maybe ask the customer if she would prefer you to demolish her house before or after she's moved out.
