Title: Are the safety courses worth it?
Post by: buzzing on July 15, 2014, 06:51:24 pm

I am thinking about getting a pure water system and  a A Frame ladder, at moment just doing bungalows and using extension poles.   Would be worth doing the advertised courses on this site?   would I be more confident on my ladder if I took the course and less likely to fall?   Or is most of it stuff I could read on the internet, would I be better just asking other window cleaners?

ive been on quite a few courses and found them all useful and confidence building to move business forward, there are certain ladder safety training course you can go on with many local companies usually about half day if that if you are unconfident using a ladder safely. if you do use one you can also buy slipmatts to place under the ladder to reduce risk of ladder slipping away

A health and safety course will give you a few tips on how to work from a ladder safely.
But it wont guarantee that you will never fall from a ladder.
Iv never known a ladder monkey who hasn't fallen from a ladder at least once and that includes myself.
Stick to a wfp system and leave the ladders to the guys who like to live dangerously.

Never done a course, but I do use common sense (sometimes) and always respect the ladder.

If the course is free, yes they're worth it.

If they cost an arm and a leg, then no, and look up ladder safety on youtube instead.

Personally, I've never fallen from a ladder or even had a slip. If I'm not certain or it looks dodgy, then I don't go up the ladder.

Yeah, I'm now a bit worried after posting that. I don't do much ladder stuff anymore - thank heavens.
