Did a sloping block driveway last week, and re-sanded it, just got a call today to say the sand had washed out !!!
Some other pwash guy and come along and told her I had used the wrong sand ! I have been using Jewsons kiln dried, and have done quite a few block drives without any problems, has anyone else had this problem ?
I have said I will go back and sort the problem out, but it has really knocked my confidence :(

Can't see how you can be using the wrong sand if it's kiln dried and hear good things-about jewsons. Obviously guessing here but was the blocks/drive bone dry when you was sanding. As if it wasn't you may have brushed it in and it's got slightly damp therefore clumping together giving the appearance the gap is full when it's not then when it's rained it's then washed it in to the cracks leaving a slightly unfilled gap. Hope that makes sense lol

We had this years ago on a big clay blocked drive. The joints are huge on clay pavers. Had torrential rain the next day and customer called and said sand had come out all over blocks. We were naive back then and went back to sweep all excess off the blocks. Now we tell the customers that rain May wash some sand out and that we won't be responsible for any excess that sits on the blocks after heavy rain. It.s there choice. If they don't except what we say they we don't do the job.

Thanks for the replies, It did rain quite heavily after we had sanded the drive, but this is the first time ever had this problem. We cleaned next doors drive which is exactly the same sloping, and it hasn't lost any sand at all !
I am a bit of a flapper, and like the customer to be 100% happy, so I will call back and see if I can rectify it ;D

We used Kevin's vac on the face of the blocks with the wet floor tool. It sucked up all the excess sand on the blocks after rain without taking the jointing sand out. Worked a treat ;D

Be wary, who and why would be my thought. Who was the other PW guy and why would he randomly knock her door. I sense a bit of BS.
Rain will wash sand out, especially when recently done, look around a parking space and you will see what happens.
As long as they know this from the off that's fine, they will just have to brush it back in. You can't go back after every heavy shower.
Sounds a bit worse from what you say. I assume it was bone dry when you sanded? If not, and I mean dry right down, then the sand wouldn't have settled, then as it dries properly the sand will drop. You're left with it looking like it hasn't been done.
Guessing clay blocks?
Go and resand where needed. Tidy up properly. Get a rubber matted wacka on if needed, this will help get it proper bedded.
Damp down once complete, weed killer ideally but a light spray of water at least.
It may happen again if there's a furrow down hill where the water runs away.
