Title: Pressure Fluctuation?
Post by: AndyDS on July 12, 2014, 06:04:38 pm
Hi,
Please may I have some advice? When using my lance with turbo nozzle, I notice a pressure fluctuation. It clearly changes the sound and force through the turbo nozzle when working, which is really frustrating. :-\ I reduced the revs of the engine by the throttle but it stills seems to happen.
I have checked:
Water flow - from buffer tank - good supply.
Engine revs sound constant when working, regardless of throttle setting.

JETMAC Loncin 13hp with ww965 interpump, 275 bar @ 15 Lpm ( All equipment is less than 2 months old - 25 hours use )

I didn't notice a pressure fluctuation using my FSC or lance with standard nozzle, but I can't be 100% sure until I set it up again. Could the turbo nozzle be malfunctioning in any way?

I would appreciate any ideas. Many thanks.
Regards
Andy

That or you are drawing air...is there bubbles coming from your return when the trigger is released?

ive 2 turbo nozzles supplied by jetmac and have had them over 2 years with no problems , if its only 25 hours use then return them thats if the turbo nozzle is the problem, i had to replace the carb on a loncin as it to was loosing pressure and not starting so maybe worth a look

Some turbo nozzles out there are Chinese and aren't balanced correctly, this gives the same affect as you describe, just thought I'd mention that too, buy Suttner or PA in future if you can  ;D

I have a suttner that lasted over 2 years and that did the same sort of thing when I retired it

Thank you for your replies.

Robert - The Loncin starts and Idles first or second pull, and doesn't miss a beat on max revs so I have discounted the engine at this point.

Chris - I do not have a return to tank so can't check for bubbles, I have attached a photo of my set up if that helps.
Pressure reducer is wound in full then back 1/2 a turn. Pressure adjustment is done via the Loncin throttle. I have notice a small drip from the tank connection at the pump inlet - but this has never been a problem, I will fix this if there is a chance of air getting in.

I would have thought that Jetmac would supply fairly decent turbo nozzles with their gear but I may have been given the odd faulty one. I will get a Suttner turbo as they seem to be recommended on CIU quite often.

Thanks again for your advice.
