Title: Question for those who have fibreglassed their van
Post by: chez on July 11, 2014, 12:41:02 pm
Hey guys.
Just wondering as I have got a bit of a dilemma. The base board in the van is rotten, so I was going to make my own to replace. But it occurred to me that I may be better off just fibre glassing the base of the van itself. Only problem I can foresee is that the water may have nowhere to run off as their will be no slight height from the base board if that makes sense.
So for those that have done it what would you recommend please. I have just bought a "stable mat" from countrywide stores which is a massive rubber mat 12mm deep and 6ft x 4ft, cut to shape so as this will take the force of the reels etc.
cheers in advance Chez

I fiberglassed my van over the ply wood and it worked perfect, its started chipping away in places now but the wood is still water proofed.
However expect your full van to stink for months after!!!

I fiber glassed  my vans and it works a treat it is a cheap way of doing it and if done probably will even outlast your van

Ok cheers guys.
But is it necessary to replace the bottom board or just put it on the van itself.
Thanks
