Title: Booking software
Post by: Steve Chapman on July 09, 2014, 05:19:40 pm
Hi all,

Does anyone use automatic booking on their website ? Just looking for some ideas as to software and whether its effective or not ?

I can't see the point.

You take a call today at lunch time to book Mrs Smith at 10 am on a certain day. In the mean time, Mrs Jones books you for the same time and day from your web site.
When you get home, you find your double booked.

Apart from that, bookings may not be straight forward.

What if you've booked two EOT jobs for the same day on line and one takes all day?

I find women especially to be minimalistic or not knowing what room sizes they have when communicating via the interweb....eg, I just have two rooms, then when you get there, they can be like football pitches.

So it all gets rather complicated and in my opinion completely unworkable.

Yep I can see its fraught with complications, just wondered whether anyone actually did it and was successful.

I spend most of the day on the phone & it really interferes with my coffee breaks  ;)

The main downside is that you will be advertising prices on your website and unless they are very cheap you will not have the opportunity to speak and sell to the customer. I did try putting price on some of my sites and the rate of calls dropped considerably, I think that this has also been other peoples experience. With selling you have the customers attention until you give them the price so if you give them that up front do not expect to be too busy.
