Title: De-foamer / fairy liquid - A warning
Post by: david@zap-clean on July 07, 2014, 04:49:39 pm
Most of use get a bit complacent at times, including me.

Not bothering with de-foamer in the waste tank is a classic.  Well don't miss it or this may happen...  It's the first time I've had this happen in 2 years - and the machine is just 2 weeks old!

And this was WITH DE-FOAMER!  I'd have been in trouble without it.

David

Put some de-foamer in a bucket mix with a little water and suck through your hoses works much better than in the tank.

I've heard that before. Tnx.

I poured neat de-foamer on the carpet for this one!

If you can't afford a TM, a bar of soap in the recovery tank will do it. 8)

Nope not soap. I've tried a bar of soap before but wasn't very effective.

Does high foam not effect TM at all?

Only one big stack in the airflex's Stu.

I have noticed a blower start to struggle and weaker vac when really heavy foam is extracted from recent application of a whole bottle of the devil's liquor i.e. Vanish - the BIG DIFFERENCE is it will never be fatal for a blower on a TM but it could well be on a leccy vac motor...

i get soap build up in the suction pipe and lose suction for about 30 seconds till the pipe clears, but only on serious stains that have been attacked with everything.
did a house on saturday and one spot on the carpet in one room completely killed my suction, i asked the lady of the house if she'd put vanish or fairy liquid down near where i got the foam up. she said, "oh yeah, the bubble machine fell off the window sill"  :o yep! that ought to do it ;D

Half a bar of soap in the recovery tank reduces the suds , also fabric softener is great as a de foamer
