does anyone know if what looks like staining is actually and if so what caused it. a product called filasatin
was used to seal it

surely someone must know if its staining or in the tiles

Looks like something has rusted on the stone. Doesn't the customer know? It also looks like you have either grout haze or trapped efflorescence as well ::)roll

it is not a customer of mine it belongs to a lady my wife works for and as we are staying here for the next eight days (my wife is looking after the house / kids) i thought i would try and find out if the it was done properly.
the floor has been down for about eight months and has never looked good to me but i am not in a position to say anything as i don't know what I'm talking about.
i do not even know what the flooring is ? so if you can tell me what you think it is and what you think of the product used and the finish she has i would be grateful.
by the way i do not think it is rust as it is on the flooring in a number of places. the guy who laid the floor was a builder and he applied the sealer

All you can do is some tests! Some friendly advice as well
"Often doing a favour for someone ends up with it biting you in the Ar$e and costing you"
I would not get involved personally but it ultimately has to be your decision

It deffo needs doing it will probably come up a treat with some honing powder and high alkaline and then sealed properly. By the way as regards the stone it looks like a Chiselled Edge Limestone of some sorts to me.
