Not bad seeing I text the night before too. ::)roll
T shirt full of ants from the tree Arghhh!

i won't do that! gate closed= no clean
second time gate closed=dumped
-
If i texted the night before and the gate was locked, i would have left it. And there is no way i would be climbing over a gate to get into someones garden under under any other circumstances. If the customer wants me to clean their windows, they have to provide access, simples ;D
-
it gets worse.................. she was in!!
-
does she really want a window cleaner ?
-
I don't mind using a multi position ladder to get over a locked gate
but I think that one would get the better of me.

You're missing a trick Ben.
If the gate is locked, clean front only, charge full price.
Since I started doing this, hardly anyone forgets.
Shame-I preferred it when I got paid in full for only doing half the windows.
-
I like your style Darren I normally charge 75% . Mike

Start charging a 'visit price' rather than a 'what I've cleaned price'
Some baulk. Let 'em.
Majority are tickety boo.
I wouldn't charge 3/4 price as it shows there's some negotiation-when there isn't ;)
-
If my window cleaner started mouthing off and throwing their weight around demanding this, that and the other and trying to rip me off with a full charge for half the work, they would be sacked immediately, probably with a boot up their backside too.

Was she creosoting the shed?

Lol.
It's not 'mouthing off'
I set out of a morning, planning to earn £x.
Would someone employed planning to work 8 hours for £x-manager says 'sorry, I only need you for 7 hours today' once you'd got there.
No. It's not reasonable.
The beauty of this game is that for every customer not happy with the way one works-there are countless others that are.

"Mouthing off and throwing weight around..."? ??? ??? . Wonder where THAT came from.
-
I understand what he's saying, if I couldn't get access to the back and I had priced a full
clean then I wouldn't clean the property full stop.
The mouthing or arguing would come when the cleaner called looking the full price for half a clean.
I certainly wouldn't pay it and wouldn't expect the customer to do so either.
-
That garden looks like a dive. ..i would dump it ;D
-
Dammit!!!!
Why can't I get my pictures the right way up?

I don't argue with my customers bud.
When I take them on I make them aware of how I work.
They agree, so they take me on.
If they try to pay half, I politely remind them of our agreement.
If they then try and argue, I take the payment they're offering and explain that I won't be back. Not aggy. Not to make anyone feel awkward or anything.
I have lost a few like this, over the years, only a few though.
It's not for everyone, but it works for me.

Probably from those that were mouthing off and throwing their weight around. It's really quite easy to work out ::)roll
